1-0 netherlands, off a beautiful crossfield strike by their captain.

Wesley Sneijder got a yellow card, he can NOT afford to get another. They will need him in the next game (unless Uruguay pulls something out of its hat.)

Ball took a slight deflection off the defender's head.  Not much, but enough to make the keeper have to change direction.  Surprised the announcers didn't pick up on that.

Neither did I, but as a former keeper, I can tell you, the slightest touch can throw you way off.  To me, it looked like a bad read by the keeper, although that ball had some bite to it.  Some serious movement too.  If it nicked the defenseman, that would explain the poor positioning.

both goals off of sick strikes ...

forlan is making this his tourny ... i had never thought he was this good (he couldnt finish for man u) but damn ... he is great

the holland goal was maybe the best strike of the tourny

very good stuff

has had better players around him and the middies for spain are amazing. also has slammed home some rebounds (like his last goal) and missed a pk iirc ... still has had a great tourny

but forlan has scored 4 times from outside of the box ... he has seemed more impressive to me

Looked to me like the Dutch keeper took a step in the wrong direction and the ball was hit with such pace it was too hard to react to it being a foot out of position.

So no one cares about soccer anymore.

***FULL DISCLOSURE*** I am watching the game and those were 2 great shots.  Keeper still almost got to the first one.

nearly scored again there on the free kick ...

solid save

1-1 67 minute ... it is starting to get late

(edit: as i added that robben just misses a rebound after a sick save from the uruguay keeper)

There are two things in this world that I can't stand.  People who are intolerant of other people's cultures...and the Dutch.

Seriously, this is a great game. Go Netherlands.

I'm still shocked Van Bommel hasn't been sent off yet.  He could have gone twice tonight, his dirtyness has been overlooked the entire tournament.  Interested to see how he deals with Xavi or Ozil.  Congrats to the Dutch, after watching their amazing 98-2000 side go out twice in the semi finals (under cruel circumstances) it'll be great watching them in a final.
