Is it just me or could maggs have totally caught that ball?
EDIT: Also, UCLA scored, up 1-0 in the 5th.
Mags runs at best a 6.5 40
has him running a 4.4.
FIVE out of FIVE fakes, sir.
Maggs had the worse defensive night I've ever seen from him. Many of Minnesota's runs came on 2-out hits that he should have been able to get to. He also clearly is not used to the bounciness of ricochets from Target's walls (though fans are already aware of it). Several of those triples, Magglio tried to get the bounce close off the wall, and had it shoot right past him. Cabrera was out there a lot last night.
Still, the story of the game was Tigers pitchers not being able to do anything with an 0-2 or 1-2 count. Either they missed terribly in working it back to 3-2, or laid a fat breaking ball over the plate. Where's Kenny Rogers to teach these guys how to force hitters to turn defensive swings into pop-ups and ground-outs, or Nasty Nate to simply chuck a cut fastball inside on 0-2 when the hitter's looking for a strikeout breaking pitch away?
Armando is excellent when he has his stuff working -- his sinker has enough similarity to his fastball to induce a ton of fly balls and grounders (this is why his BABIP-to-ERA ratio is always so frikkin weird compared to other players). But on nights the sinker isn't doing its thing, he doesn't know how to pitch. Bonderman learned how, and so can Armando. It's not the worst problem to have.
bunting with an aluminum bat is ridiculous, SC player just lined out to first on a bunt
That one he had less of a chance at, but still, an average fielder would have made a much better play if not caught the ball.
10-3 Twinkies. Ugh. And Fu Te Ni is sucking dogshit tonight.
He is a decent pitcher, but he walks way too many batters. It cost him again tonight. Span is having quite a game. Not sure I've ever seen 3 tripples in a game.
Span is a beast....I love that guy.
And they showed his home vs. road splits. Holy Cow!
CWS 1 all in the 9th. UCLA 1st and 3rd with 2 out
Regarding the Tigers, this is less frustrating than falling out of first on the last day of the season.
GO GAMECOCKS!!!!!
Thought post would be on what's up in AL Central. Think Sox are in best place because of starting pitching, and middle and late relievers. All are so close, it will prob. come down to which team has the most injuries.
is done
