Hello Mgoblog a Few Questions?

Submitted by husker4life on

I'm new to this site and as soon as we joined the Big 10 today I wanted to get Michigan's point of view on it and of course our shared title in 1997 which seems to be a hot topic on here today lol. A  few questions?

1. How do these mgopoints work? I take it the minus means you said something wrong?

2. Am I going to be slammed for the red N on my picture avatar?

3. Are there people to avoid on this site like other users?

4. How many users on here are buckeye fans because I only saw one and he had a few minus points and frankly I'm not suprised lol. Take it theres Michigan State and ND users too?

Don't let the points bother you. Yeah, you'll probably get slammed occasionally. But, most users here are fair (sarcasm? nooo!). And fans of other teams are welcome so long as they aren't trolls.

Well basically MGoPoints are free to opinion. You can give somebody a plus for a solid point or witty/hilarious comment, or neg them for being a jerk and/or taking away from the overall topic. As you will see, other fans are welcome to post. There are numerous Notre Dame, MSU, and OSU fans on here along with some others. The avatar is fine, as well. Helps us recognize you a little better. Hope you enjoy the site, and we always enjoy getting another fan's point of view, much like you are doing. I look forward to Michigan's future ventures with Nebraska, but I hope we crush you like a red-headed stepchild.

for me personally I like to chat and hear from others.  However it seems to me us M fans only here from our lil' bro when he does something good and he dont shut up.   This site is really pretty good I have been following for a few years but only started posting recently.   From a football perspective I am excited about the addition and look forward to seeing these two great programs meet on the field on a  somewhat regular basis.

So why is it that on everything I have read the last few days that the speed thing is brought up?   Do most N fans really honestly think of the B10 as a slow conference?

when it comes to message board sites. I deleted my facebook and myspace cause of a f-ing psychotic ex-bf but thats back in past where it needs to stay. Anyways I did click on that mgoblog hall of fame and I laughed at some of the stuff. The red wings dude and that mcfarlin guy seem to be pretty hated I take it lol

I know when I go to a site I haven't been to before, I check the "useful stuff" drop down menu, then go to "User-generated Hall of Fame", then I wade through 30 different thread topics to know exactly what's going on with Korean girlfriends and hated users.

And then I laugh at some of the stuff, because I've never been to the site before because I'm new and so I don't know what everyone is talking about until I read the incredibly hard to find drop-down menu.

And then I make depth chart.

And then I make another one.

And then I lolz!

Welcome to the site and welcome to the Big Ten! This site is amaizeing and the people here know their stuff. I come here for everything sports, not just Michigan.

1. All based on opinion of the other users, and the only significant number is 20, which is the minimum for posting new threads (which, since you made this one, I assume you know by now).

2. No. In fact, that makes it easier for us to know who you are, justHeck, I think its annoying when people change their avatars and I have to remember them by a new pic anyhow. Not that I blame them for wanting to change it up ever once and a while, but its still annoying.

3. No sure I get the question, but no, I guess? Only if they have a large negative point value, in which case they are probably a troll (With the exception of extreme negative values that indicate a nuclear negbang form Brian for making him mad. Only happened once, and after the joke got old his points were restored, but for a while he had -98000ish).

4. That I know of off the top of my head, we only really have Irish and Not a Blue Fan. We welcome rival fans for their take and inside input from their side when they are rational and can take some jabbing here and there. If you jab back, there will inevitably be users who react poorly and neg you, but by and large, we're good sports if you are and you should never have to worry about it as long as you're civil.

What am I, chopped liver?

(You'll find that most Big Ten blogs - at least, the best ones like this one, Black Heart Gold Pants (Iowa), Black Shoe Diaries (PSU), and for basketball The Only Colors (MSU) and Hammer and Rails (Purdue) - are pretty good about welcoming fans of other schools as long as they're not jerks.)

Was being semi-sarcastic. Point is, there are a few of us around. Know KJ's showed up a few times (though not exactly a regular), and I think at least a few of the BHGP and BSD folk pop up every now and then.

I'm Ron Burgundy?

I'll show myself the door now.

But, to answer your questions...1) Don't focus on the points. Just focus on quality. 2) No.3) Not really, I guess. 4) There are a few. As long as you're respectful and bring something to the board you'll be fine.

I don't represent anyone here but myself, but here are a few observations:

1.  If you are a respectful opponent, you will get respect back.

2.  If you are disrespectful, you will become a wrath object.

3.  Most people here seem to love it if you have something to add about your team that we wouldn't know about as UM fans.

4.  Most of us probably know you want your team to win, so exhortations such as "go huskers" probably aren't neccessary.

Basically, if you come here and post something like "Michigan sucks and we are going to kick your ass," it isn't going to go over very well, and you may find your point level so low that you will never be able to start a thread again.

If, however, you give backing analysis and post something along the lines of "it should be a hard-fought game, but I think the Huskers have enough to pull this one out," you probably won't get negged much for your opinion.  Some will neg you on GP, but you will probably at least break even.

The poster known as Irish is often used as a prime example for "enemy" posters.  You may even want to look up his handle and read some of his posts.  He does a great job of straddling the fine line between obnoxious rival fan and valuable resource.

Hope this helps.

Ahh... wow. So many stories are running through my head right now...

I dated this girl for a while. She was really a... nasty freak. She just loved to get down with sex all the time. It was like... anytime of day, she was like, "Yeah, let's go! I'm so nasty!" And I'd be nailing her and she'd be like, "Oh, you're nailing me! Cool!"
