Help New Orleans/LA Wolverine Fans Get Big Ten Network
Cox Cable, New Orleans' cable provider does not offer the Big 10 Network. Most people down here are SEC fans obviously/unfortunately, but the local sports bars draw big crowds for Big 10 games and I've seen enough posters on this board mentioning they are from this area to know we're well represented. I don't think adding Nebraska will heighten the probability of getting BTN added but I wondered if any of you have or would be interested in trying to lobby to get BTN added to Cox (whether you live down here or not).
BTN provides a form that automatically sends a request to Cox, I've filled this thing out annually but so far no luck. I encourage others to help out and fill out this form, even if you don't live in Louisiana (though, someone with more computer knowledge might be able to tell me if they track where you're sending the request from and therefore disqualify anything out of the area).
I realize that this may not make one damn bit of difference but I thought it might be worth a shot:

If you're asked for a zip code add 70118 or 70115 (others from the area, feel free to add your local zip) and select Cox as the cable provider. If this catches on maybe we can help lobby for other areas without BTN.
I'm sorry, but that is hilarious.
Cox is huge!
.....
They provide great coverage of South Carolina, it's easy to watch Cocks on Cox.
that must be in the PPV section i don't go into
If we schedule them for 2012, you're saying we could watch Mike Cox vs the Cocks on Cox?
makes that a mouthful
she said.
Once Carvin Johnson blows up here the entire state of LA will be desperate for some BTN action.
it's unsafe that our children, looking to experiment with some 3 yards and a cloud of dust, have to go to unsafe places to get untested and unmonitored Big Ten Network. By legalizing BTN (and taxing it heavily) with strict regulations, we can make sure the safety of the children is maintained.
The only way you're getting the B10 network is if La. Tech joins the conference...
La. Tech to B10? Wow, that would add ALL the TV sets in Louisiana! (hey if Rutgers=All TVs in NY) This is a great idea, if we start this rumor ESPN will no doubt report that "sources claim La. Tech to B10" within the hour and then we'll be on our way!
RIVALRY ENGAGE!
2003.
there are rumblings Tulane will be picked up by the SEC in the wake of the B12 collapse...
Loyola New Orleans to Conference USA!
Always wondered why Michigan doesn't invite Tulane up for a scrimmage, err, I mean game. Tulane's football team draws about 500 people to the Superdome on Saturday's and could sure use the huge payday a game with Michigan would provide and at least it would provide Michigan with a DI (barely) opponent .
who would go to Cooter Brown's (official unofficial location for all NOLA UM fans during fball season)?
and I'd save $50 a week, sounds good to me.
Cox also is the cable provider in the pan handle of Florida as well. I'm not sure how far that extends. This probably affects Alabama and Mississippi as well so this would be a huge step for the BTN.
a terrific grasp on Cox and how it operates down South
I sometimes wonder why exactly you are a mod.
i have a lot of time to put into moderating content and making sure reposts are removed, etc., because of the nature of my work. you would be surprised how much WAY offensive stuff gets thrown on here. i'm not trying to be anything more than that and am open to criticism/suggestions.
He's a moderator not a censor.
Just take that stick out of your butt and you'll feel better.
Cool reply bro. You sure add a heck of a lot to the website.
. . . . . not.
I learned everything I know from you.
"How far it Extenze."
Might I suggest that the solution to the problem here is easily solved by inviting one Tulane University. I may or may not be biased, but anything that wrestles some of the hegemonic power from LSU I am all for.
Seconded... Roll Wave!
I bet we could get front row seats on the 50 at the Superdome for Michigan - Tulane.
Im not being snarky, but Cable drove me crazy for a few years when B10 network was in its infancy...now I have Directv and for no charge I get B10 network and the alternate B10 network (both in HD IIRC) so every umich game basically is a go and no extra fees.
but we have Time Warner. Glad I could help. I keed I keed, that sucks.
I have to drive to my parents house from Baton Rouge everytime Michigan is on the BTN. Ive got Cox up in Baton Rouge. Ill fill that thing out
Ive got Cox up in Baton Rouge.
So that's what the kids are calling it these days?
Can't you get it with one of the small dish providers?
that there's no viable other options for internet in New Orleans. thus residents are forced into the Cox bundle of internet and cable in order to get their fix. jeez, they JUST got ESPN3(60) operational down here through whatever agreement that took.
there's a handful of bars down here (Cooter Brown's, The Boot, Bruno's, Gordon Biersch (?)) that have dishes but it's a pain in the ass to hear from your friends how this or that is on at 3 am and how awesome it is to rewatch and have no ability to do so.
I hate watching in bars when the sound is turned off, often I'm left wondering what happened to a certain player who left with injury or what penalty the ref just called and the iphone battery is too shitty to keep refreshing the live blog for an entire game.
I live south Alabama and have direct tv with btn bundled bell south dsl. Of course down here you have to pay extra for the btn to be added.
