OT: The Curious Case of Bryan Colangelo and the Secret Twitter Account

Submitted by stephenrjking on

Sports twitter has gone plaid tonight with the posting of this article on The Ringer:

The Curious Case of Bryan Colangelo and the Secret Twitter Account

Yes, that's right: It looks like Philadelphia 76ers GM Bryan Colangelo has been using burner twitter accounts, and he's been using them to bring the salt.

Yes, that's an alleged Colangelo burner account knifing his own player in the back. He also takes shots at the guy who took over for him in Toronto, and at his predecessor at the Sixers, Sam Hinkie.

Speaking of which:

Joel told me that @samhinkie IS BETTER AND SMARTER THAN YOU @AlVic40117560 #BurnerAccount

— Joel Embiid (@JoelEmbiid) May 30, 2018

So twitter is naturally having fun with this. Some Michigan guys are speculating what Dave Brandon burner accounts would look like. The obvious answer, of course, is that he already lurks among us. Others have tossed out thoughts on which college football coaches would most likely have a burner account (Lane Kiffin!) or traded good-natured barbs at each other.

In short, it's a lovely evening.

Say, what would a DB burner spend time doing on here, anyway?

Maybe he’s Notawittyusername (based on name, not this posters actions). That’s the one account that pops out at me, but yes I would wager heavy money that DB is on this site and posts a lot. The dude was a narcissistic prick and knows that this site brought him down, so he’s gotta be involved here.

You know, part of me almost buys that - it would be very Dave Brandon to spend several years torturing yourself daily with the very thing that contributed the most to your downfall, even contributing to it even if in a troll-ish, bitter manner. The only thing that I question is why all of us do not have a sizeable stash of pop in an attempt to get discounted tickets to games.

Today might be the holy grail of famous people having bad days.

From Roseanne getting exposed as a racist and getting her show canceled, Drake getting exposed wearing Jim Crow shirts and blackface (ironic) to Colangelo sabotaging his own players using fake Twitter accounts... I have NO IDEA who has it worse.

Unreal.

It's annoying how ABC is getting acclaim for pulling her show in response to her racist rants, when they were the ones that gave her the show in the first place after multiple decades of being an unhinged racist. Cancelling her show was a cynical move to protect their profitability, not some kind of woke social stance.

Best “actual reporting” I have seen from the Simmons site in a while. Well done!
Now go out there and get a wolverine on staff pls. I’m sure Bacon could recommend a talented young writer from one of his courses.

Its pretty damn obvious to me that..

He got hacked.

Five times with five separate accounts.

I mean what other explanation could there be?

“I hadn’t discussed with the team switched from public to private, effectively taking them offline—including one (HonestAbe) that hadn’t been active since December.“

Honest. Abe? Sounds eerily familiar.

Finally, we know Mineral King’s sercret, all-knowing source. Bryan. Motherfucking. Colangelo.

1. Sixers have launched internal investigation of these Twitter accounts.  My guess is they will soon determine, as the rest of the world has already, that Coangello is behind all of them.

2. Coangello is fired for cause

3. Sixers hire Cavs ex-GM David Griffin who is well-liked and respected by Lebron James

4. Lebron signs with Sixers during Free Agency thereby accomplishing the following:

  • Stays in east
  • Joins talented, young nucleus of players
  • Re-joiins David Griffin
  • Sticks it to Dan Gilbert who he hates with a passion

Thanks a lot Obama.

Not that any team should pass up a chance to acquire LeBron, but he's a pretty bad fit on the Sixers. Ben Simmons is only good with the ball in his hands, and using Embiid as a spot-up shooter really diminishes his value. LeBron wouldn't increase the Sixers' ceiling nearly as much as he would, say, the Rockets'.

I love when stuff like this happens. This guy is so insecure that he's out risking his career defending the size of the collars on his shirt.

“This dude just love collars,” Enoughunkownsources responded, “That is a normal collar. Move on, find a new slant.”

Who had the worst day yesterday on Twitter?

1. Roseanne Barr tweets racist shit for no apparent reason (oh wait she was on Ambien therefore it's ok) and gets fired.

2. Drake gets destroyed in a rapper battle with Pusha T then outed for doing a blackface photo shoot, having an illegitimate child with an ugly porn star and being a deadbeat dad

3. Jerry Colangelo is found to have not one, not two, not three, not four but FIVE burner accounts with the twitters all of which seem signularly devoted to trashing sixer players he didnt like and defending the honor of the great Jerry Colangelo.
