They're playing this game after one in Australia the week prior. They might as well forfeit this one.

an underrated two-parter. This entire past season was very funny. Mac and Dennis Move to the Suberbs was a particular standout IMO. I don't know how much longer they can go but I am still on board with it.
Yeah that was maybe the best episode of the season. I wanted so badly to know what Frank and Charlie were up to with those Russian hats, and Dennis' road rage is when I realized I maybe a little more like sociopath ass than I'd like to admit.

Think it was this year's Hawaii hoops team who had some crazy scheduling spots (which oddly enough they ended up winning their conference and had very good year).
Last year I remember they flew from Hawaii to Wisconsin then back home then to Boise all in one week and got crushed by Boise State and admitted how tired they were for that game.
Not sure if this spread is up anywhere yet but the Rainbows have to 40 point underdogs in this one.
Looks like I'm rooting for USC for maybe the first time in my life on Sept. 3rd

Hawaii players body time will be 7:00 am. And after the travel strain of going to Australia and back, they will be challenged.
Should be an opportunity for Michigan to get a lot of guys in the game.

They play Cal the week prior in Australia. Then have to fly to AA to play the mighty Wolverines.
This was always bound to be at noon. Hawaii is coming from Australia and noon is already 6am Hawiian time. Given how we saw Harbaugh keep the west coast visitors at the noon slot last year, this shouldn't surprise anyone.
Not even that, but it will be an absolute snoozer for anyone who is not a Michigan fan to watch and there are a ton of intriguing matchups for the 3:30 slots. This would be noon even if the team was from the Eastern Time Zone.
Interesting that there is a Sunday night game that weekend...ND at Texas.
There is pretty much always a college game or two on the Sunday of Labor Day weekend, since there is no NFL on that day (the week 4 exhibitions are generally played on Thursday before Labor Day).
I thought it was pretty common recently with the holiday weekend.

No tears shed for their residents. It wasn't a picnic for us waiting until 10:45 p.m. to watch Michigan play there in 1998.

First off, we don't play at noon Eastern "every single Saturday" - so if you're getting up that early you love to watch college football, whether Michigan is in the game or not.
Second, and this hurts like Hell to say - they've beaten us 13 out of 15 because they've been better than us. We all think that's gonna change, and we're hoping it's really soon.
So... don't make any major life decisions - like moving to ohio ferchristsakes - based upon the idea you can help Michigan beat ohio in football!
Anyone know why we scheduled Hawaii after the OSU game? People would lose their mind if that happened today.
but back then there was some rule about a trip to Hawaii not counting against the 11 game regular season schedule so they got to play an extra game.
If a team plays at Hawaii, they are allowed 1 extra game overall. Hawaii is ALWAYS allowed to play 1 extra game (they have 13 games scheduled in 2016).
It's become a little harder to actually do because every conference has gone to a conference championship game. A school has to be willing to play all 13 weeks before Championship Saturday, thereby not having a bye week.
Of the 6 FBS schools that play at Hawaii in 2016 --- none of them have scheduled a 13th game. The 1 FCS school that Hawaii plays (UT-Martin) did schedule an extra game, as is their right.
FWIW, in April the "Hawaii exemption" was actually expanded. Any team that plays at Hawaii is allowed to both (a) schedule a 13th game, and (2) start their season 1 week earlier (that game can be against anyone, regardless of whether or not they play at Hawaii). Now a team can play at Hawaii, play a 13th game, and still have a mid-season bye.
I was too little to have any personal memories of that game but it would be interesting to find out why that game was scheduled the way it was and why it happened again 12 years later.

To be honest, that's arguably the primary (it's at least a partial) reason for a Hawaii trip. It can be sold as a trip for the fans, but the team and administrators will definitely be on that airplane. Usually Hawaii isn't very good, so good teams should win fairly easily, and also get some beach time.
Notre Dame visited Hawaii in both 1991 & 1997 --- and deliberately played in the Hawaii Bowl in 2008 (other Bowl games wanted them but they chose Honolulu).
Wisconsin has played a regular season game at Hawaii FIVE times from 1986 to 2009. Michigan State, Northwestern, Purdue, Nebraska --- other current B1G teams that have played at least one regular season game on the islands.
Not only the plus one Hawaii rule but I seem to remember that Michigan scheduled the Hawaii game after they won the Natty.
That's what, 4 or 5 AM for them? Good. They can take their leis and perfect weather and surf boards and sun and cram it up their hoki.
Noon Eastern is 6AM Hawaii Time and 2AM Australia time. But they will have to be up a few hours before kickoff.
Not sure which is worse for their body clocks to be on. It's a lose-lose.
Coming to the Big House to face Harbaugh's madmen was always gonna be a loss. It's not a lose-lose - they take home bags of cash and and play in an ESPN game.
They may well lose by 2 TDs more than they were going to anyway, but rilly - 49-0, 63-0, what's the real difference if you're on the wrong end of that?
These noon games are going to be tough, but oh so worth it...

Set the DVR, sleep in til 9am, then watch it. That's like the same time it comes on here on the West Coast, and I've been getting up in time to watch those kickoffs for 30 years now.
Earlier even, as I often catch the last 30-45 mins of Gameday.
As long as you avoid your phone, etc you won't know the score, so it's "plausibly live" - like the Olympics!
