OT: Big10 (mostly michigan) "The Basketball Tournament" team

Submitted by wardcrazy01894 on

For those who don't know, "The Basketball Tournament" is a tournament where former NBA and NCAA basketball players compete for $2,000,000. It's a really cool way to see your former favorite NCAA players or old NBA players or random overseas players. (more info on the tournament here https://www.thetournament.com/

Anyways, the Big10 made a pretty formidable team for the tournament of former big 10 players featuring primarily michigan men. I now definitely have a team to root for! Check out their roster here https://www.thetournament.com/teams/big-x (I wonder if they will also be undefeated with Duncan scoring more than 6)

The fan side of the tournament:

Part of the tournament is fan involvement. So the teams with the top fan support can get some special treatment, but more importantly for us, the fans get 10% of the $2,000,000. So the top 201 fans of the winning team split $200,000!!! So register as a fan of this team to help them out and hopefully win some cash yourself

Shameless plug alert: also, if you sign up as a "fan" of this team please use my referral code

Reddit CFB Risk season ended already?  I don't even remember the bowl games...

Strikes me that there should only be one quirky, senseless nerd game on the OT list at a time.  Or none.

The Basketball Tournament features solid talent, but it isn't high level by any means. Any former NBA players usually got a cup of coffee in the NBA and are past their prime. The most fearsome teams are usually the ones with a bunch of former college teammates (Syracuse has Boeheim's Army) or overseas pros.

Our team is actually fairly solid. I wouldn't be surprised at all if they were in it to the end.

Ehh the best teams don't have NBA talent but they all have very good, established pros that are in the prime of their athletic careers. Calling the talent "not high level by any means" is an absolute insult. The OSU team had Craft who is a great DLeague player already, Sullinger who had an NBA career, Diebler, Lighty, Buford who were all great college players (much better than most of the guys on this OSU/Michigan team) and have all continued in Europe.

Dakich would get his lunch eaten by Craft. Horfoed and Stu are probably the two best players as they've had solid pro careers, and Duncan and Tate could be good role players. But Donnal, Dakich and Kam WIlliams don't belong yet. They would be hard pressed to more than 1 game.

When they say the top 201 fans of the winning team get a share of the prize money, what exactly do they mean by that?

Is it based on points, or when you sign up?

Thanks for sharing this...Go Big X...I think Stu and Duncan will be lethal in a 3-on-3 format.

It's by points. I will try to embed a tweet that describes it below and might fail miserably
