Softball Facing MSU in B10 Quarterfinal
Wot it says on the box! Big Ten Tournament play begins for the Maize & Blue against MSU. MSU spoiled the party last year, and while everyone will deny it, you know that game's in the back of everyone's mind tonight. Beaubien gets the start, it's up to her to keep MSU down so the O can go to work.
MSU gets a hit after two Ks to start the inning, but a meek ground-out ends it. 0-0, heading to the B1.
Ground-out, ground-out, called strike 3 for Michigan. 0-0, going to the T2.
Why doesn't the No. 1 seed play in the first quarterfinal? Haven't they earned the advantage of getting extra rest and not getting stuck starting a game at 10:15 p.m.?
I was gonna bring that up if no one else had. It's absolute BS that we weren't the first game, what's the advantage of winning the damned conference.

K and a ground-out put the runner on third, then a questionable HBP puts another on with 2 outs. Not sure how you can have an HBP when the batter gets hit on the hands, actively leaning towards a ball over the plate, but that's why I'm not an ump I guess.

Uden strikes swinging at a pitch way out of the zone. These first couple innings are just not going our way. Fortunately, there's a lot of game left to get it together.
There's a limit to how much I'm willing to blame this thing on the rain. MSU's been sitting around all day just like we have, both teams are playing under the circumstances.
The team is just not as good this year compared to past years. Giving up 2 to MSU is uncharacteristic of Megan but the team has struggled all year at the plate.
Ok, well now it's actively raining while we're pitching, and it's clearly messing with Beaubien's control. You were right. :p
For the record. Had it not started raining in football, MSU would have put about 35 up on UofM. Both teams played in the rain, MSU had great movement before it came.
HBP gets Michigan our first base-runner, but another K ends the inning with the team still hitless. Some of these swings have been brutal to look at.

through first 2 innings. She beat Michigan 4-3 in BIG tourney last year, and lost a close one to Michigan 1-0 a month ago at Alumni field. So she has had success against UM.

Wow, who pissed in your cheerios today? This team has already won a conference championship and has one of the best pitchers in the country (even if she's off to a rough start today). Sorry for the fact that I enjoy supporting one of our most consistently successful programs.

Inning ends on a BS interference call. Michigan trying to steal 2nd and the incompetent MSU catcher throws the ball of Peter's bat. Incredibly frustrating.
