OT - Reddit CFB Risk Update 5/9: ATTACK THE NORTHEAST

Submitted by AmaizeingBlue on

Thanks everyone for participating in the Reddit CFB Risk game over the past couple of days. Unfortunately, we have stagnated in the last few days despite being the fourth largest team left in the game. This is because of the fact that our player base is split between the midwest and northeast. Essentially creating two separate entities with armies half the size. With that said, we have decided to publicly announce our strategy in an attempt to better coordinate all of our manpower.

We are encouraging any users on here that have been attacking anything in Michigan or Ohio to send your resources to the Northeast. You can directly help by defending any of our current territories in the NE (Pittsburgh, Buffalo, Kent State) or attacking any enemy territories bordering them. But keep in mind that our goal is to eventually reach Maine to create a Michigan stronghold before expanding back out towards our home state.

Instructions to Join:

To join all you need to do is go to reddit.com/r/cfb and create an account if you don't already have one. Next, set your flair to Michigan. You can do this by clicking "Select Flair" on the right side of the cfb subreddit. Finally, you can join and play the game at https://vote.redditcfb.com/cfbrisk.php

If you want to discuss the game in deeper detail and strategize with us, you can join our discord server found here: https://discord.gg/TcZBTcj. We usually announce plans of what we want to attack/defend in the evenings, but we discuss strategy all day. Be warned though, there will be a vetting process to join the discord as we have had some mole issues from OSU. Even if you don’t pass the vetting process, we can still provide less-secret instructions in the general chat so that you can still help us towards our goals until we can fully 100% trust you.

Additionally, we have formed "The Blue Alliance" with Florida and Georgia Tech. If you would like to meme about this, go to: www.reddit.com/r/CFBRisk/

Go Blue!

Instructions as to how to play:

At the beginning of the game. Every team was assigned one single territory, and so every territory is now named after that team. When you go to select an action in the game, you'll see option such as:

"Defend Buffalo", "Attack Penn State", "Attack Kent State".

This means that we border the location that was originally assigned to Penn State and Kent State. If you choose to attack Penn State, you will attempt to take that piece of land next round. Defend Buffalo, means that we currently own Buffalo's original homeland, and defending Buffalo means putting your stars towards keeping Buffalo from being taken.

After you submit what you're doing for the day, just sit back at wait! At Midnight EST all of the picks from all of the teams go in, and a random number generator selects a winner for each territory. Then it all happens again tomorrow.

Full instructions/explanations are available HERE.

I joined and realized that I am essentially a pawn because I didnt have a Reddit profile before today.

Question, can you not submit your vote? Or is what you have selected submitted once the timer runs out? Because I kept changing between attacking PSU and defending Ohio.

Well, it looks like the stage is being set for one hell of a battle between Alabama and Florida.

Nebraska's strategy, as usual, is to conquer a vast nothing.

Strategy is sound - provided no one else is trying to do the same thing. Let the other teams lay waste to one another and wait it out in the NE.

It has actually gotten a lot harder to take New England since we first set out on this goal. VT, Clemson and PSU are all fairly decent sized forces that are fighting with us for land. We are the largest though by far, so if we can consolidate we'll be in solid shape.

I'm genuinely curious if this game will ever end. With end game criteria being one team remaining, this probably won't be resolved by the start of football season. Unless there reaches a point where there's a precipitous drop in involvement.

and owns the land in (roughly) Wisconsin, Kansas, Oklahoma, New Mexico and the greater LA basin?

I don't recognize that team logo (or color scheme) at all?
