Amazon-style doc on Shea Patterson's first game for Ole Miss

The quality is surprisingly high—they've won several regional Emmys—and offers a behind-the-scenes look at Shea's Ole Miss team.

both are already established parts of his game. It's that he has experience, and has shown real poise, on the big stage. That's gonna be good for a win or two by itself.
That's the first and last time I root for Ole Miss in anything!
Not following Ole Miss, I had no idea how this 2016 game against A&M turned out.
I surprised myself to find I was rooting hard for Ole Miss, and let out a cheer when they won the game late.
I felt a little dirty.
Of course, it helps that their win was on the back of Shea's 3 scoring drives in a row.
Also, Hugh Freeze looked useless. He had that hand-clapping superfan vibe going. where he was just an observer as the game happened in front of him.

That's a little harsh. Suspension of personal ethics so that Ole Miss bagmen can deliver top-rated players into your program is a useful trait.
We may all be inwardly, shamefully thankful to / for Ole Miss by season's end.
You need to have personal ethics in the first place to be able to suspend them.

I always imagined there were people following along with what I was watching and typing closed captions/subtitles. I'd try to rewind and change channels to lose them, but man were they on it!
that the actors for commercials used to stay at the tv stations since the commercials were "live" and they had to act them out every commercial break.
I mean, it was surprisingly good to me actually. They got nearly everything right except for unique names.

That was an absolutely awesome catch. It was a great throw as well. That was not a 50/50 jump ball . . . it was on a rope and you needed a very fast receiver with great hands and balance and strength to keep off the DB. Patterson made the throw . . . can DPJ and Black and Perry make the catch?
Regarding the video production, that was very high quality. Man, I'd love to see stuff like that made all the time, every year. High resolution, good editing, good narration. Very good piece.
How does/will UM's offensive line compare to the Ole Miss line that Shea played behind last season?
That would be an intersting breakdown and analysis in attempting to project performance.
My hope is that this is the reason for his TD:INT ratio. If teams know they need to stop the run then receivers should be more open, and if Shea knows he’s got a top 10 defense behind him he won’t feel the need to play hero ball and take as many risks.

Very well done production right there. Shea has that great playmaking ability that's also like 73% maddening/terrifying. Also, exhilarating and very fun to watch.
I'm 100% with you. We always had a little bit of that when Devin Gardner was our QB. Some of those long scrambles were terrifying until a bomb landed in the endzone. I'm thinking of that TD he threw against Minnesota.

Our WR's are going to have to improvise as much as Patterson. Michael Spath made a good point in that the Ole Miss WR's helped out Shea quite a bit last year in altering or freestlying routes and going up and getting quasi jump balls.
I think without a decent jump in their performance all of Patterson's scrambling may not be as effective as it could be.
I think there will be a stark difference between what Shea had to do in the Ole Miss offense versus what he'll have to do in Michigan's. The Ole Miss spread depended on the QB being able to make a throw, it wasn't built around the run game. At Michigan, Harbaugh's offense is much more under control as far as what the QB and WRs are doing each play. There won't be nearly as many jump balls thrown downfield. The downfield shots will be set up, and used sparingly, to catch the defense off balance. Ole Miss relied on them, more or less.
Personally, I kinda hope to see an innovative hybrid between a passing spread and a prototypical pro-style attack. Harbaugh has been known to adapt to a players strenghts, so lets it!
I liked Forcier. Early on when he and Denard were around I was equally excited by them. Forcier didn't have Denard's ability but he seemed to have more of a weird moxie in chaos. As time went on.... Denard was, well, Denard. Give him a step and he's gone. (Well, and Denard really had his shit together. I ended up feeling sorry for Forcier as he started to spiral down).
But having a Forcier type player, who also has his shit together, could be alot of fun.
I don't think Denard did chaos very well. I can think of a few throws when he shuffled or scambled to make a play (all of UTL1, Ohio '11 TD pass in 3rd quarter), but he seemed most comfortable in RR's system when the throws and runs were based on precision timing.
Forcier was the opposite and the blowback was well-described in Bacon's book. RR was repeatedly frustrated with Tate's refusal to follow plays as designed. In my guestimation, he wasn't big on preparation - which was probably ok when he was a high school alpha. But in the P5, it's gonna get you doghoused with any coach.
He's basically a more physically gifted Tate who doesn't mind doing school. Harbaugh tutelage is gonna be great for him. Sky is the limit for this team. The defense may be the best in the country. We just need the offense to be good, not great and Shea can make that happen.
If we can just have a *decent* offense, one that can control the clock to an extent, have good ball security, and be relied on for 21 points, I think we have a team that can be very very good.
I think Shae can be a significant part of that.
But I'm afraid we are going to be scheming around poor pass protection again.
1. Warinner coaching the entire OL instead of the weird Drevno-Frey split (and also Warinner being an excellent coach)
2. Ruiz at center doing a better job of being a quarterback of the OL (primary responsibility for calling out protections on the field)
3. Hudson and Filiaga coming off redshirts -- both 4-star recruits who, in a Warinner OL, could be solid
Didn't Tywin set off of that up? It felt like a continuation of one big joke (Tyrion's first 'wife' etc).
That show is epic. I didn't really fall in love with that show till last summer...but I fell hard.

I was seriously waiting to see if Hugh Freeze would mulitple 60 minutes by 60 seconds. He stuttered a little and instead said "make every second count." Come on, man! You have 3600 seconds!
Is the Michigan doc about last season worth watching?
I was thoroughly let down by last season even though my expectations were low. Not sure I feel like reliving that to watch some halftime speeches and blow outs of lesser competition.
in the context of Ole Miss being terrible in the run game - defenses were expecting pass and Shea still delivered a 152 performance despite the duress. That Ole Miss OL was mediocre at best. If we had Shea as our QB last year (despite our OL issues) we definitely beat MSU and likely win at least one of OSU and Wisconsin. He probably could not have overcome the white-out spanking, but man would we have instantly been more competitive in the big games or what? Can't wait for the 2018 season ... Go Blue !!!
