M slips back to 3rd in Final Winter Directors Cup standings
Penn State jumped Michigan in the final Winter Directors Cup standings, which were released after Mens and Womens Gymnastics results.
With the addition of men’s and women’s National Collegiate (NC) gymnastics, the winter season has officially concluded. Looking ahead to the spring championship season, Stanford has extended its lead in Division I and became the first school to eclipse the 1000 point mark this year, with 1104.00 points.
After scoring in both the men’s and women’s gymnastics championship, Penn State regained second place with 889.25 total points. The Nittany Lions finished in sixth place in men’s gymnastics and 25th place in the women’s gymnastics championship.
The Michigan Wolverines are in third place with 881.50 total points after a seventh place finish in men’s gymnastics and a 19th place finish in the women’s gymnastics championship.
Ohio State remains in fourth place after a seventh place finish in men’s gymnastics and a 13th place finish the women’s gymnastics championships for a total of 830.75 points. In the winter season, the Buckeyes scored 730.75 points amounting to 88 percent of their current point total.
Rounding out the top five is lone Atlantic Coast Conference school, NC State. The Wolfpack have accumulated 722.75 total points at the culmination of the winter championships.
The Big Ten leads all Division I conferences with three institutions in the top-10 – Penn State (2nd), Michigan (3rd) and Ohio State (4th).
MSU is 41st.

Fairly shocking to see NC State at #5
im not sure that penn state will score any more points... we will have men's tennis, women's tennis, softball, baseball (hopefully), water polo all in their respective NCAA tournaments, and i don't think psu will have any of those... track/field and golf are toss ups
No, all sports are worth the same, but the point difference between places is worth a lot more for higher places. The gap between our Women's is probably negligible that low down the totum pole.
PSU Men's Gym scored 32.5 more points than Michigan's Men's Gym, while our Women only received 6 more points than theirs.
Men's Gym also has way less teams, so the differences between places are sharper.
random question about women's tennis, if anyone knows. we had the returning NCAA singles champion back and it seems she only played in the 2nd or 3rd singles spot... and the team had an awful non confernce performance??? they managed to finished 2nd in the b1g, but it seems like a really poor showing for a team that looked like it has a lot of talent...?

Brienne Minor had surgery on her knee and missed the whole fall season so, despite being NCAA Champ, having her game on the shelf for 4 months took a toll. Top recruit Alyvia Jones badly sprained her ankle and missed about a month of the season. On top of that senior and three year starter Alex Najarian left the team--not sure what the story is with that one. The team still went 11-1 in the B1G and could make a run in the NCAA's.
