The student body has a high caliber of very polite and sharp kids. Everything is walkable and they have blocks of UD owned houses for upperclassmen. It’s a great place.

Google it and ckeck out the images.

UD sells out because there is literally nothing else going on in Dayton. I’ve lived here for over 20 years and only still live here because most of my extended family lives here. I would never live here by choice without something else bringing me. The UD campus isn’t in a fun part of town (because no such pet exists) and isn’t as nice as Wright State or even Cedarville, for that matter. The academics are stronger at UD, but that’s about all it has going for it over those two schools. Best of luck to Ibi, but I’ll never understand why anyone not from Dayton would want to be here.

I think I’ve earned the right to dump on Dayton...I have lived in South Bend,Indy, The Netherlands, Hawaii and spent plenty of summers and holidays in the Detroit area. Dayton sucks. I’d rather live in Columbus...no difference in the fan bases in either town, but at least Columbus has North Market and NHL hockey.

Daytonians invented the airplane, invented the electrical starting motor, contributed to the Manhattan project, and helped break the Enigma code (the second time).  We've just had a bit of a letdown these last 75 years or so.

UD has solid academics and the campus is actually pretty nice. Also, the student neighborhoods are out of control - basically 5 square blocks of nothing but university housing. I remember the celebration videos from their elite eight run a few years back - that place can get pretty crazy.

Though I agree that, outside of UD, there is not much in Dayton that would attract someone
