TomVH: DE Desimon Green Offered

Submitted by TomVH on

Just got off the phone with Desimon Green, the defensive end out of Clairton, PA. I just did an update/interview on him a few days ago. He told me that Coach Gibson called him and offered him. Gibson would have offered sooner, but apparently he was in the Bahamas.

Rich Rodriguez signed off on the scholarship offer, because Green has a ton of versatility, and can play anywhere.

Desimon will use one of his official visits to come see Michigan during the season, but he's not sure which one.

...of course one has a VERY strong need on the O-line and has a plethora of DL and LB either very interested or committed already with a small class and several other positions already being recruited heavily as well, such as RB, WR, CB and S.

...Green's Scout profile:

As a junior, Desimon Green recorded 87 tackles and an astonishing 27 sacks, eclipsing his school record that he set as a sophomore when he registered 23 sacks. He earned 1st team All-State, All-Conference and Pittsburgh Post-Gazette "Fab 22" honors. He says he can bench 235-pounds and has a 36-inch vertical jump.

50 sacks in two seasons is an insane number.

In the interest of full disclosure, Clairton plays in the lowest level of the WPIAL, so the competition is pretty bad. Now obviously, good players should put up insane numbers against bad competition, so Green's obviously good, but in this case stats aren't everything. Just FYI.
