OT: The Cube Inaccessible Until Fall 2019
Get your last spins of the Cube in, folks. The Union renovation project will leave it behind construction barriers from May 14th until Fall 2019.
Fencing will go up around the Michigan Union on April 30 as it closes temporarily for the renovation. The Cube will be enclosed on May 14, and will remain closed to the public until fall 2019.
The Union will undergo its most extensive renovation since it opened in 1919. The project will create social space on the main level by enclosing the courtyard, and expand and improve lounge and study spaces.

As much as I enjoy The Cube, the fact that the spins are not for money and the chance to be in the Showcase later still kind of grates on me.
In all seriousness though, I think I just might go give it one more spin before they fence it off for the Union renovations.
Thought I was the only one who heard the Big Wheel beeps every time I pushed it.
last fall was walking around campus with my two boys and having them spin the cube; pushing that thing was a decent stress relief after the game...
I am bringing my daughter up for the Womens Golf Camp in June and that is one of the picture moments that you have to take in while touring the campus. Too bad. Go Blue!!!
Drink a lot of liquor and sit on it. It'll spin.

can confirm.
Michigan's campus under construction?!?!
Color me shocked.
Doesn't anyone realize the entire campus gets its power supply from that thing??!!??

This makes me sad.
Back before The Internet was Everything you had to wait in line outside Ticketmaster outlets to get tickets to concerts. When Pearl Jam announced they were playing Crisler Arena back in 94 (or 95) we ran down to camp outside the Union the night before on a cold February night. My roommate got really drunk and climbed on top of the Cube whilst we spun it around as fast as we could.
He ended up getting sick and wandering over to the front of the Union to puke on the plaque commemorating Kennedy's Peace Corp speech.
Anyways, we got the tickets and I sold mine to Juwan Howard's roommate for $100/each who then sold them to some sorority girls.
You guys have gone so respectable in recent years.
Seriously, that seems like a really long time to make the Cube inaccessible. I hope the results are worth it.
I don't think Dio made him do it. More like 16 Natty Lights and some Taco Bell. Dio worked on a higher plane.

I forgot about that show! I gotta go relisten to that.
Double post.
I was kind of hoping they could relocate the Cube during the renovations. I guess that's not too practical.
is dangerous when you are drunk.
