i wish someone would create an MSU football/basketball players crime timeline over the last 10 years. I bet it would be shocking to see the sheer volume of it compressed into one spreadsheet.

The issue is the kid had troubles in high school of a sexual assault variety and Dantonio still brought him to campus. If you had a daughter on that campus you have a right to be upset about him  bringing a sexual predator to campus it's not about giving the kid another chance it's about putting others at risk. This isn't the first time for Dantonio Jayru Campbell had several incidents and he didn't pull his scholarship until basically everything blew up and they had their mutual agreement. And yet Mork is left alone while they come after Harbaugh for every little thing he says

Yeah, better not tell Crowell, because he has been pretty adamant that the best players in Michigan go to MSU and their coaches would never insuly guy's toughness in public. Now they may overlook numerous transgressions including violent sexual assaults, but at least they'll do so behind closed doors.

Between the Detroit papers coverage of MSU events.  There's just too many new developments not to keep the assigned reportes busy at the Freep, News, and also NPR and Mlive.  Let it not be overlooked that it was reported yesterday that MSU's Alumni Director, yes, Alumni Director suddenly retired in the face of a Title IX investigation.

Ordinarily an Alumni Director retirement probably wouldn't be a news story.  Now, not only is it a news story, but we know that he's headed to Florida, where he has 2 grandchildren, one of who is autistic.   Did that detail really need to be shared?

Nothing to do with the Title IX investigation at all.  I'm a little appalled that he would basically throw his own grandchild under the bus to attempt to salvage his own reputation.

Sure he would - just put the kid on Red Lock.  Hell, Dantanya would meet him at the airport and drive him to the practice field if he thought Robertson would help them beat Michigan...

How goes it at the DA's office? They need to set up a special unit for 'Spartans will commit felonies'

We'd need a lot more funding for a special unit dealing just with the Spartans.  Just too many crimes coming out of that place.

In all seriousness, I'm not sure what's in the water out here but there's been an explosion of serious crimes by people with mental health problems.  I mean, we've always had our share of crazy but something has changed.  I've been doing this for 18 years now and it's never been this bad.

all of which are made worse by the increasing ease of access to new and way more powerful drugs, which can trigger, exacerbate, or even cause the mental issues.  you aren't just dealing with old-style chiva/coca/mota like we were back in my day.  good luck man, hang in there.  remember too, a guy with your experience can be very well and gainfully employed outside of the DA's office.  maybe its time to start thinking of that?

This guy must think all police departments will let him get away with the stuff MSU does. He will find out in the real world you go to jail for being a scumbag, instead of being made a captain like when he was in "college".

is the apparent corruption of the entire justice system in that county. Beyond the failure to investigate, undercharge, prosecute etc of several cases of crimes, now you have a judge, with the wink of the prosecutors, saying sure, you are okay to get back to college as long as you do it elsewhere. Shame on them, and the CC that took him in. Looks like MSU and county decided let’s ship him out and make him someone else’s problem.
Now he stands trial in Kansas and his crimes at MSU get buried.

As far as transferring their problems, I don't know what they were supposed to do with him. He was eligible for bond. He's from Indiana, is college age and had an offer to go to school out of state and play football. What would he be doing if he stayed in Michigan? He was expelled from MSU and has no family around. That sounds like a recipe for more trouble.

It's not like they were dumping him. Another school made the offer knowing his history. Bad move on that school's part and he found more trouble anyway.

to point out that Michigan offered this guy.

I always counter that he did not commit. Maybe it was something he saw in E Lansing that aligned with his character or maybe he wasn't allowed to commit, as Michigan puts out 300+ offers a year sometimes. Some of them can't commit, obviously.

These things don't quiet the Sparties, though, of course.

he got into trouble. He committed to MSU in June. He then was charged with 3 misdemeanors which were dropped in September. He was again arrested and charged with sexual battery shortly before signing day. MSU dropped Robertson and tried to sign a couple of other DEs. After they struck out on them, they took Robertson and brought him to campus.

But yeah, Michigan offered Robertson.
