She had been battling illness for a while but it always sucks to hear about someone losing a spouse so early. 67 doesn't seem that old. Heartbreaking for Pop and especially in the middle of the playoffs. I hate the Spurs as much as the next guy for that dang '05 Finals, but this is very sad news for the Spurs and the whole NBA community. RIP Erin.

He has seemed so fatigued, gaunt and haggard this season. Now we know why. I have to believe he retires once this series is over. And not a moment too soon with the Kawhi situation about to blow up in RC's face.

I am sure the stress of this situation certainly didn't help, but I agree with the other poster above - I see someone like Popovich going hard at basketball as he moves forward inasmuch as he can from this. To that point, I cannot even imagine the sorrow in losing someone you've been married to for over 40 years. Very sad news.

Pop has been an ambassador of sorts to the NBA. Never a dull moment in his post game press conferences either. I hope he can get through the tough times he’ll face in the coming weeks. Rest easy Mrs. Pop!

MGoBlog is a great escape to take your mind off things....but since there are immature kids on here (hoping for their own sake they are actually kids and not sad adult trolls) that downvote cancer posts, I try to focus on, and enjoy, all things Michigan on here (especially since my wife and I had so many great Michigan memories).

in Pecos, TX on the way from NM last summer, and they had something akin to a shrine to Pop, including a letter of thanks from him for their amazing food. That guy means a great deal to a lot of people.
