Bringing back a player that called his teammate the N-word would only be like the 10th worst thing at that school this month.

I hope they do it and I hope the lockerroom craters. I hope every black player on the team and all the white players who care decide to not report to camp in August. Just do it, Mork, you spineless ass.

I agree his second chance should come elsewhere, but he's served his time if you consider that time away to be a suspension. If you can drink and drive, get in a fight, etc., be suspended, and come back, then you should be able to say some words and then come back, as long as there has been sufficient time and reparations in the meantime.

I've seen worse things happen with the program in East Lansing.

Doesn't mean the poster thinks that was a good idea. Personally I would say a poor decision like drinking and driving is different. Calling a teammate a racial slur involves some deeper issues that don't just change with a suspension. And I don't just mean the obvious racial issues---this was a TEAMMATE in one of the most team-centric sports. If you don't have enough respect for a teammate to at least not call him one of the worst slurs in the English language, you might not be great for the team.

Anyway I have no insight into the actual situation so I can't say whether this is incredibly stupid or just everyday-sparty stupid. But it's absolutely not the same as the run-of-the-mill stuff (not that drunk driving is, but whatever I'm hitting "Save" now).

He said it in a txt to his girlfriend who slept with that teammate of his. She then posted it when they broke up, i believe.

If you ask me both players had some issues and it was pretty clear there were far more issues in the lockerroom other than this one.

I think he should be given a second chance. I'm sure worse has been said/done there. He's done his time.

The Mbem-Bosse thing was discussed down here in  Tejas.   I know the cool aid drinkers won't believe this but UM football is becoming a joke.   Morning radio guys wondering what the hell is going on in AA.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that if he's made peace with the locker room, there's nothing wrong with him rejoining the team.

Yeah, everyone is saying it's winning at all costs, but it's hard to imagine Dantoni would do this without his players being on board with it. If Mork is the one behind the idea, he's an absolute moron. He's a D-bag, yes, but I don't think he's a moron.

And as someone who sides with Kaepernick, thinks systemic racism is a big problem in America, etc., I don't see anything wrong with giving him a 2nd chance if that's what their players think he deserves.

Amazingly his bio reads as follows for his redshirt year:

2013 SEASON: Redshirted . . . named Scout Team Special Teams Player of the Week vs. Ohio State.

Link

Which is eerily familar to Mr. Davis' injury-plagued 2011 medical redshirt season:

2011 SEASON: Redshirted . . . named Scout Team Defensive Player of the Week vs. Minnesota . . . selected Scout Team Special Teams Player of the Week vs. Central Michigan.

Link

And yes, Reschke's MSU football bio is the first hit if you google his name.

Bad for locker room chemistry and he's just an ok player who's athletically limited.

Plus there's the potential for some amazingly awkward press conference questions.

I always understood that you had 5 years to exhaust your eligibilty. Six if you have a significant injury or rare circumstance.

He redshirted in 2013

Played in 2014, 2015, 2016 and off the team in 2017.

They may need to spin this to get him back unless I'm misinterpreting the rule.

Wouldn't that be a great move...from Michigan's perspective? This is the guy who helped crater the MSU locker room as they spiraled to a 3-9 record.

When Reschke got the boot, Joe Bachie took over his position and kicked ass. Are you going to bench him? Switch his position?

Are the other MSU players going to wonder if Reschke will start rumors of infidelity and cuckolding again?

Why the fuck would you want this guy back on your team?
