Upon first reading that Speight was trasferring to UCLA, I immediatly thought, I wonder how the weather is in So Cal?  Is he goign to need a heavy coat while sitting on the beach? Now I for sure know that won't need one, but I still have some unaswered questins. Will Speight need a trench coat or a pea coat at the beach? What about a light jacket or parka? Will he need a turtleneck or a sweater? How about a scarf?

He did. I'm sure he's carrying a pretty heavy load over how his career here ended. Hopefully people don't spit venom at the kid for doing what he sees as his best option.

Good luck, Wilton. I remain convinced that were he not injured by a dirty hit, he would have rounded into form again, and our season would have gone very differently.

He's got a season of evidence - you've got four games. No-one will know how he would have finished the season, but this isn't a situation where you''ve got the logical take and his is delusional. Speight bounced back from some rough games in '16, he may have done it again. Get out of here with that baseless negativity.

I don't think anyone was happy with QB play last year and the offense struggled for a multitude of reasons, but does anyone on here really think we wouldn't have fared better with Speight under center than O'Korn / Peters?  Not claiming we would've won the conference or anything along those lines, but we probably would've found a way to pick up a couple of more wins.

Probably would have been the same amount of wins with Speight.

I don't think the player at QB was the issue last year.

I don't flinch to say the offense would have been better if Jedd Fisch would still have been around.

...Wilton. Thank you for all the sacrifices you made for the University of Michigan football program!

went towards more of a passing oriented offense at Philly and SF. Ran a lot less zone read and more RPO. Nick Foles had a great year under Chip Kelly. Mark Sanchez looked like a serviceable QB under Chip Kelly.

Chip adjust to his QBs while still maintaining the core of his offensive system.

where speed at QB doesn't do you as much good since the speed of the defense is so much better, and being able to throw accurately is much more important, again, because the speed of the game gives you much smaller windows.

I do agree that without his ideal QB this year at UCLA, it made some sense to bring in a proven veteran and run something like what he ran in the NFL until he grooms his type of QB.
