Michigan Softball reaches program milestone tonight
Michgian Softball's 1-0 win over MSU was the 1700th win in program history.
Michigan's all-time record is 1700-593-5 (.741).
Hutch has 1537 of those 1700 wins. She's been coaching us to 90% of our all-time victories. Think about the stat. The program has been around since 1978.
More statistical marvels from other all-time records-
B1G Record: 605-186 (.765)
Home Record: 587-147-1 (.799)
Road Record: 552-238 (.699)
Neutral Site Games: 561-208-4 (.728)
Oh by the way, Michigan is 89-28 against MSU all-time, winning 20 of the last 21.

Just curious, is Softball also canceling games due to weather?

No, I asked the ticket office about it.
Per Sam Webb, they're working with Rutgers to move Saturday's game to Friday. No announcement yet.

When these weekends with inclement weather happen, the schedule changes on an hourly basis.
Basically, Rutgers shows up Friday afternoon, they leave Sunday afternoon after a stay of at least 48 hours, and Michigan has the responsibility to try to get in 3 games during that interval (the only rule is no more than 2 games in a day). So what will happen, probably, is they try to play a DH on Friday and then spend all day Saturday and Sunday trying to finish up the Friday DH and then play game 3.
The "Friday-Saturday-Sunday" series is just a convenient fiction when there is precipitation or very cold weather in the forecast. Looking at the weather this weekend, there might not be any play after the rain starts on Friday.

What is Michigan’s record this year?

33-7 overall. 8-1 in the Big Ten.

One of the best programs you can support on campus and tickets are extremely cheap. I plan on having my season seats for decades.

I stare at those empty chair backs and wonder who has to die for me to get them.
Are yours chairbacks?
If so, how’s your health lately?
Michigan softball is one of the few women’s sport at Michigan that’s watchable and has been for a very long time. I hope women’s basketball and lacrosse can get to a high enough level. HAIL!!
Women's Volleyball is awesome as we have had season tickets for many years.
Much besides Softball, Michigan Women are nationally competitive in Gymnastics, Cross Country, Swimming, Water polo,Field Hockey, Rowing , Tennis and Volleyball.. Michigan has a Very good Womens program in a wide range of sports..Your comment was spoken like a true male chauvinist pig

I will give him the nod in rowing. It is unwatchable (regardless of men’s or women’s) and crew afficionados will admit the same. Nothing to do with quality.
Otherwise, you are right to push back.
Yikes
I enjoy these threads where you report neat facts. Thank you for researching this stuff.
When you throw out the first pitch at a softball game, I assume you need to throw it underhand, like the way a softball is actually pitched? What would the reaction be if someone threw out the first pitch with an overhand motion instead?
Burned at the stake as a witch
Ha. I was just contemplating that. On one hand, that’s how it’s pitched (with a lot more motion/forcefulness). On the other if you just do the regular ole underhand, you look kind of wimpy. I think I’d still underhand it...maybe with a light windmill thrown in, haha.
looks like he is on a beer league team.

totally disrespecting the game and players who participate. Fastpitch softball is a highly skilled game. It takes years to master every element of the game. And I fell in love of the women's game in Ann Arbor, and enjoy watching and officiating it at all age levels. Fastpitch when played well, as is the case year in and year out at Michigan, is totally enjoyable.
Hutch is the greatest coach in Michigan history
That is a good day! Who pitched yesterday?

little pond
There are 286 D1 softball programs. Hutch is a bullshark in a very large pond.
then we'll talk . . .

This sounds pretty dismissive of a program that has been in the national spotlight for a long time AND which is unusual for its region. Most of the top softball teams in the country don’t have to travel for the first month of each season to avoid playing in snow.

those are some very lofty numbers and show just how dominate of a program Hutch has built at UM. She is one of the greatest coaches if not the greatest to ever coach a sport at UM. Congrats to the program on win 1700
I don't know anything about Softball, but a quick wikipedia search showed that Michigan has one National Championship (2005). Any particular reason for this, given the dominance in winning percentage?
