OT: Official Jeff Blashill returning NEGBANG

Submitted by American Hotel on

Since we had so much fun celebrating Kenny's return, here's to a redux. Read it and weep:

Though if you're willing to play devil's advocate, there is no mention of extending him beyond next year, his last. And the more I think about it, the more it seems conceivable that Kenny's two-year contract was merely an extended "severance," and there is a handshake deal in place between Ilitch and Yzerman for Stevie to come back after next season, allowing Kenny to take over Seattle (and hopefully take Blashill with him).

But anyone that thinks he’s a decent coach doesn’t watch the team. They look like a bunch of guys who have never played together against the 1970s CCCP teams. Their special team units look absolutely awful. He holds young guys to ridiculous standards and lets dekeyser and Ericsson set up one timers for the other team so he can double shift them. If they want to keep their young talent in Detroit in the long run, he has to go. He throws young guys under the bus and never throws under his fucking western boys. No reason to sign witkowski, all he did was block talented prospects like hronek, svechnikov, turgeon, hicketts from getting called up with no room on the roster until someone else got hurt. But his western boys will be the last to go, even if they’re the two worst players on the team by far. Riley sheahan went from being a good third line center under Babcock, to scoring 0 goals in 79 games. Dekeyser looked somewhat like an nhl defenseman under Babcock, now he looks like he would be second pairing in the echl. His system, if there is one, does not make players look better than they are. Babcock, cooper, gallant, the Florida coach whose name is leaving me at the moment but he owns the spitfires, all those coaches get the most out of their players and do more with less. The wings this year arguably had more talent than babcock’s last team here and they finished fifth worst. How bad can you be at overtime? It looks like they don’t work on it at all. It’s been that way since he got here. It’s all based on the system he’s running. When Babcock was here, they would totally control overtime but didn’t have the talent to finish. Now they have a lot of talent up front and almost never touch the puck against good teams. I mean think about it, you used to see abdelkader and glendening in overtime with babs. I hope the wings bounce back, but the only way I see it happening is blashill completely changing his style and holding everyone equally accountable including your precious Broncos.
