Millen on NBC
Matt Millen was just interviewed by Dan Patrick on NBC. Tough questions by Patrick. Millen took responsibility. He said he was too blame was admitted there was a portion of the job he couldn't do.
Not a pardon, but Millen at least was a stand-up guy and took the heat and blamed it on himself. He admitted he would have fired himself too. Good interview by Patrick.

He took full responsibility which was the stand up thing to do. I wonder if her is going back to tv commentary?

Ha - I was going to mention that as well. Although, I thought he should have "fired" himself much sooner or hired a better scouting personnel. He had the fire and the drive and I agree that he had the football acumen, but man, he could not draft to save his life. Not necessarily the first round receivers (Rogers was good for his first two games and then kept getting hurt, Mike Williams was rated very highly by everyone and he just didn't have the drive), but I think it was the second and third rounders - Cody, Dizon (jury is still out because he's a rookie), Stanton, Ikaika-Francis just to name a few.
I will say this - the draft where we got Roy Williams AND Kevin Jones, I nearly crapped myself and thought that we were going to turn the fortunes of the team. I'm sorry that they both didn't pan out. I'm also surprised that Mooch didn't work out - I also thought that he was going to be great. I'm hoping that we get a defensive minded coach and draft well.

Glad to see he took the hit. Gawd he blows as a GM for F's sake.
What really sucks is he totally destroys an organization and just moves on to another high paying gig like nothing happened. How does he have any credibility anymore?

It sucks that Millen is still getting 12M from WCF. Whose the bigger the idiot? The idiot who fails, or the idiot who pays him 5M a year and fails and gets a contract extension?

At what point was he planning on doing this? It's not like it wasn't within his power. Good for him and all for taking the heat, but if he had spent any portion of that interview attempting to blame someone else, everyone watching would have instantly seen through it and silently told him to go pound sand.
If he said there was a portion of the job he couldn't do, I wonder which portion it was exactly that he could. Draft? Trade? Sign free agents? I'll give him this - he had some modicum of skill at pulling off decent draft-day trades....and then blowing the picks he traded for.

He's a good guy, he knows enough about football to be very good at something (broadcasting), but he was in over his head.
