Sounds awesome to me. Dr. Gupta was a great commencement speaker. I assume he must know about basketball to get the assignment, and he would obviously be able to give injury updates competently...

Don't have a huge problem with Gupta. Feely is the issue. How can your color person not have any connection to basketball? All the other teams have a color analyst who is a former player. Especially considering there are plenty of former Michigan basketball players in the media right now. My guess is that Webber was too controversial to put on the Michigan game, and Turner did him a favor by not bringing in any other former player.

Would have preferred a comedian for the sideline reporter.  Kansas got Rob Riggle which should be fun to watch.

If only there were some members of the turner team who played basketball at Michigan. Could even add Dana Jacobson or Tracy Wolfson. I guess they don't want their employees to appear biased in the future though.

I think they're trying (or in Dana's case - already are) to establish themselves as national broadcasters who don't have a bias toward their alma mater.

The teamcasts are fun, but I've tuned in occasionally and also noted they're very homer broadcasts.

If they were just throwing up random people who didn't play basketball just throw up some Michigan famous people in there. Get James Earl Jones in there with his voice everyone would tune in.

Webber is controversial to Michigan fans and has already called tournament games as a neutral party. Not using him is a wise choice.

But Feely and Gupta? I'm not impinging their qualifications as broadcasters at all, but they are known neither as basketball commentators nor as boisterous fan types. Might as well hire Communist Football to do color.

If they aren't going to use the Michigan radio telecast, I think they should hire people for the weekend. Get some real homers who like basketball.

would be the obvious choice as he is a complete Michigan slappy who has done color before but he 1) works for ESPN, 2) has feuded with Webber for years (would be awkward for Turner).  Too bad.  I wasn't going to be watching much of the Teamcast anyway but this certainly doesn't convince me to reconsider.

This is so retarded that it matches and maybe even eclipses ESPN level stupidity.  All they have to do is to find some former Michigan basketball player who can do competent color commentary, a Michigan alumnus who can do basketball play-by-play, put Tracy Wolfsson on the sidelines, and just put some other sideline reporter on the TBS broadcast.  You could probably find a guy calling play-by-play for high school games on the radio easily and he would do fine for this broadcast.

A football kicker doing basketball color commentary?  Yay.
