For the girl to be afraid to say something about him grabbing her ass because she didn't want to get kicked out of school, that shows how shady law enforcement and administrators handle sexual assualt allegations against people in power or people making money for the university.

Why would reporting inappropriate behavior by the man representing and overseeing the student body result in her losing something she's worked for and earned?

Seriously it hasn't been said enough as far as I'm concerned:

Was Nassar’s enabler. The safety and security of students and patients was the last thing on his mind. He was basically another Harvey Weinstein.

I think these new Stampel revelations make MSU worse than PSU regarding institutional scandal and abuse of power, sexual abuse, etc

Horrible things to compare, but her there are clearly two active participants in the sexual abuse, whereas at PSU it seems there was Sandusky and a bunch of people looking the other way.

Both horrible, both inexcusable, but MSU might have just pulled off the impossible - being more morally bankrupt than both PSU and Baylor.

....when we are talking about these levels of depravity and moral bankruptcy, it is not easy to compare and contrast, but if you go by the sheer number of innocent young victims, I guess staee is worse.

The thing that rankles me about ped state is the legion of fans who still refuse to believe that jokepa was anything but a saint.

BTW, FUCK penn state and all their delusional joepa loving fans!!!

minimized because although US law has been changed to properly identify what Nasser did as rape, the press and public still don't often tend to identify it as such. In that sense--not just technically, but in reality--the PSU case doesn't come close in scale. That's not to minimize what happened at PSU. . .

And until the FBI investigation results are known, MSU doesn't appear to be as bad as SMU in terms of paying players.
I have reconsidered my call to expel MSU from the conference (not that anyone cares what I think.) Instead, I recommend that the conference redirects MSU's share of the BTN revenue to a victims' compensation fund. This should continue until all victims are compensated completely per some court verdict or other binding arbitration. I don't care if this takes decades. The University should pay. If MSU challenges the conference, vote them out of the conference.

either 'put out' in terms of sex, or send him shameful pictures, or there goes your $300K investment in med school....if those turn out to be the actual facts, i'm thinking this case is undercharged.

However, I'm hoping for a response to this question.  Does anyone else get the feeling that the AG had reason to believe evidence is being destroyed?

Why else would they use a "time sensitive" tip to get a search warrant to confiscate a computer MSU was already supposed to hand over?

Wondering if anyone has found other insight into to this...  Any large piles of laptops being burned outside the admin offices?

was already deleted, but computer forensics was able to recall those files (ex. they note someone tried to delete some files). If I remember correctly from an episode of Forensic Files, once a file is deleted, it is still on your hard drive until it written over with another file. If true, then it becomes time sensitive because the more he used his computer after deleting the files, the more evidence gets written over and lost permanently (or where he tries to scrub his hard drive as Nassar tried to do). As for the tip, I thought it might have come from a victim. But I suppose someone inside of MSU might have tipped them off. It will all become clear in the coming weeks and months. Seriously, what a shit show at MSU.

A statement from the AG that some files appeared to have been deleted.  Computer forensics should also be able to determine when the files were deleted.  If they were deleted after he took his "medical" leave, it's evidence of obstucrution by someone other than douche bag himself...

I can't imagine MSU being dumb enough to think that deleting a file will make it go away for good, but who knows at this point.

People have lost their minds and are guzzling the kool aid.  RCMB has gone full on cult mode.

A giant, steaming, shit show is the only way to describe this mess.

A file takes up a number of blocks of memory. When it gets deleted, the info is still there, but the blocks are considered available to be written to. When new files get written, free blocks get used again, and the information that is there gets written over in part or in full, depending on how much space the new file needs of a particular block.

So imagine the new file is a few bytes over a multiple of block size. Those bytes get written to a new block, which the system sees as belonging to that new file. But most of the old data still exists, and can be retrieved forensically.

It's pretty sad when you see Engler and other administrators still trying to protect the university. That time has passed, it's now time to be completely transparent and the university as a whole can't even do that. They're still trying to circle the wagons but the cavalry ain't coming. Stop already!!!

From Engler on down to the alumni and fans. Stop trying to protect your shit. It's over. It's now just a matter of how deep does the rabbit hole go. Stop trying to compartmentalize it to just the school of Osteopathic Medicine and gymanstics. There is a culture of violence towards women on that campus that needs to be rooted out and if Izzo/Dantonio or anyone else has contributed to that culture they need to be jettisoned.

This allows them to focus everybody on two guys who have committed horrific crimes. It will be a “look over there” approach. Expensive yes but that is inevitable.
Meanwhile the sexual assaults and coverups under Izzo and Dantonio will get a pass by MSU with a commitment and adoption of “best practices” with regard to future allegations.
They will be devaluing the crimes committed by MSU athletes and the injuries suffered by the victims in order to protect Izzo and Dantonio.
I don’t often root for plaintiffs’ lawyers or the press but I hope Izzo and Dantonio, not to mention Hollis and others, are held accountable.
This whole thing really is a disgrace to that institution.

Msu fans when people who don't affect revenue sports cover up rape: Act outraged, wear teal, demand change

Msu fans when their notoriously lawless football and bball programs rape and cover up rape: come up with conspiracy theories, blame the media, claim victims are liars

I think what you are suggesting has been their strategy all along.

The MSU board and President Simon made a big show of hiring a law firm to do a supposed independent thorough investigation of all aspects of the Nassar affair, and specifically to determine whether there was any type of coverup or enabling by the MSU administration.

This report - delivered in oral and not written form - completely exonerated all MSU administration staff.

However, we now have incontrovertible proof that this investigation didn’t even bother to examine Strampels Work electronic devices.

To this layman, this screams official cover up as the report was conceived not to reveal evidence, but to conceal it.

I ask whether Simon and the entire MSU board might be looking at obstruction charges.

See my post below...  Maybe the AG has something up his sleeve?  I'm wondering if there is more to this "time sensitive tip" than meets the eye.

It might not take a "legal eagle" to answer this question, although I'm all ears.  I'm starting to think the AG is taking this seriously and the BOT is in panic mode.  That would explain the seemingly inexplicable tone-deaf approach they have taken.

together for their 'side' of the story.  and that is all that occurred with that law firm's bogus 'investigation'.  obstruction is generally resisting or delaying compliance with a lawful order from law enforcement.  those two ideas don't contradict one another in this context.

federally things are a bit more tricky in terms of what is happening with evidence - as alluded to upthread, people who are actively destroying evidence, particularly digital evidence, could be in trouble if/when it is reconstituted forensically. however, as of yet the feds aren't involved in this investigation and it wouldn't surprise me that they never do get engaged.

bottom line though:  even the finding of another leech in the red cedar river isn't going to do nearly as much in the grand scheme  of things as most non-msu folks would want.  news cycle moves on.  china/n. korea/trump/2018 election cycle/stock market will swallow this all up in due time.

I do these investigations for a living and have been in this exact situation before. The lawyers might be to blame, or maybe not. Investigators are hired to do an investigation within a scope defined by the client. It would seem natural to me that they would’ve interviewed this guy, but imaging his computer is something else entirely. You would want to know whether the images were just sitting there on the desktop of his work computer, or whether they had been wiped and found only after someone came forward with a tip and the computer underwent forensic analysis. You would also want to know whether the investigators even knew about this computer. Some people keep multiple devices, some of which are not on the official inventory logs. When you show up to take their computer, they hand you the one they know has been sanitized, and you never see the bootleg device(s).

Finally, simply because the university officials got up and said the investigation found no wrongdoing doesn’t necessarily mean the investigation found no wrongdoing. Once the results of the investigation are turned over to the client, the client can make whatever public statements it wants to and there’s nothing the lawyers can do because the investigation is protected by privilege. I’ve read a client’s statements and or news articles about my investigations that bear only a vague resemblance to what I actually reported.

Bottom line – – might be a white wash, might be investigator negligence, or neither.

to claim that this not an institutional problem.

They can try to say, "Look over here don't look over there" except that only works up to a point.  Here, IS there.

Look at Strampel.  Look at Hollis and Klages, and anyone else who fled.

But don't tell me that Dantonio and Izzo are choir boys because they might have beaten Michigan in a sports event.

~50 photos
Unknown number of women he tried this with. Now that this is in the open, I suspect you'll see the number of accusers increase dramatically.
There were (at least) two monsters running around that campus FOR DECADES.
It's been said many times before, but it is even more true today. MSU MUST bring in outside leadership to completely change the culture there. That campus is toxic. I have seen 2 people wearing Spartan gear out here in SoCal recently and I can only shake my head. Have they no shame? Do they not understand the depths of the depravity? It's time to put your pride aside, Spartan Nation, humble up and fix the problem.
