Final Four game time?

Submitted by michgoblue on
Quick question for the board. I know that there has not been any official announcement, but I have seen a number of people online (not here, just general internet) saying that we are playing at 6 next week. Does anyone have any insight as to whether this is accurate? When is the official game time supposed to be announced? Saturday night is the second Passover Seder, so I am really hoping for the later time.

6:09 and 8:49 are the scheduled tips.  I would imagine since most people think that the right half game will be the de facto title game, it will be the later game.  But Cinderella + the country's largest alumni might mean they want that later for ratings?  We'll see.  I would guess 6:09 personally.  Should be set tonight.

Also of note, both final four games as well as the championship game will be televised on tbs this year. No cbs, which sucks for those without cable/satellite.

I'm sure mgoarchive will be posting a thread to stream the game through his discord server so be on the lookout for that thread next weekend if you need a streaming alternative.

Villanova vs. Kansas/Duke is a game among 2 big names and will be either "1 vs 1" or "1 vs 2."  That's about as good as it gets, and will get the prime spot, no doubt about it.

If Texas Tech wins, the Michigan game MIGHT be the late game.  But I'd still doubt it.  Michigan is popular, but they're not basketball "blue-bloods" like KU or Duke.

It's hard to imagine a scenerio in which a game involving at least one of Duke, Villanova, and Kansas isn't getting the second game. There's also sizable evidence of people liking Cinderellas in theory but not watching in sizable numbers.

is our best scenario to get us the late game, but it won't happen if today is the day of the annual Self-inflicted elimination of the Jayhawks.

for us to get the early game---and victory, too, of course---allowing the coaching staff and players to scout the championship game opponent during the other semifinal?

Root against Texas Tech and Kansas if you're trying to buy tickets. They'd each have by far the most fans in San Antonio.

Duke and Nova are our best bets for cheaper tickets/a bigger Michigan prescense in the Alamodome.

Hoping for the 6 o’clock game to have the rest of the night to celebrate if we win but honestly I could care less. JUST WIN THE GAME!!

Flew out last night and returning next Saturday. Took the late flights hoping my toddler would sleep on my lap. Had to spring for the WiFi to watch on the plane last night, and sat across the aisle from and FSU fan. Made for a nice flight! Hoping we tip early on Saturday so I can actually watch before we leave.

This would be a largely resolvable problem if you could watch full game replays—all you would need to do is turn off your phone notifications and then have a non-fan get the replay started for you. But, because they don’t, it means those of us observing the Seder are hosed.

We're having 30 people for our Seder, and it really doesn't matter which time slot Mich gets.  I'm in the Midwest, so maybe if it's the early start, I'll get to see the first half.  But whatever the outcome, it will give special meaning to "Dayenu" (the prayer that means, "It would have been enough")
