Pro Day Notes: Hurst, O'Korn and More

Submitted by BursleyHall82 on

In looking over Twitter and various news reports, some tidbits I garnered from Michigan's Pro Day today:

- Mo Hurst apparently did quite well. Ran a low 4.9 40 and put up 29 reps on the bench press.

- Haven't seen photos, but Shane Morris was apparently invited to throw at our Pro Day.

- Biggest news came from John O'Korn, who declared himself the most NFL-ready of all QB prospects, and said that he'd take himself No. 1. And it looks like he was also offering two tickets to the gun show.

To be fair, that quote is taken out of context. He was saying that based on his knowledge of game planning because he helped game plan with the coaches at Michigan, that he would take himself over others on that facet only. He commented that based on how he saw other QBs struggle with grasping concepts at all-star games and workout days.

Then again, maybe his participation in game planning last year was part of the problem. :)

“Honestly, I think I’m the most NFL-ready quarterback in this draft just as far as terminology, and knowing what to do on a day-to-day basis, game-planning,” O’Korn said Friday. “I was part of the game-plan meetings with coach Harbaugh, coach (Pep) Hamilton, the whole staff, coach (Tim) Drevno, all last fall, so just on a day-to-day basis what it takes to be an NFL quarterback, I think I would choose myself over any other guy in this draft in that regard.” [italics added]

Is it possible that our O-line blocking up front, scheme, play calling, WR execution, RB Pass Pro and overall Offensive Coaching was so bad last year that O’Korn is actually good? It wouldn’t shock me if he got into an NFL camp, made some throws and impressed some people because he had more than 1.7 seconds to get rid of the ball (and receivers were actually open).

Naa.  That's only part of it.  I said something that felt good to say about a political figure I'm not a fan of in a thread that was obviously about to implode (which it did in short order.)  I earned my punishment, or whatever.

Being a smartass is probably only responsible for -500 or so since.

But sounds like Wheatley broke his foot. TE position will probably be fine but it's almost turning into 'what could have been'

Here is a pic of Shane with a couple unnamed guys.

EDIT:  I don't know how to resize . . . I just copied the URL. Anyway, the point is that he was there.
