OT: Dennis Hopper Rides Easy Into Sunset, was 74

Submitted by Geaux_Blue on

Dennis Hopper, whose portrayals of drug-addled, often deranged misfits in the landmark films “Easy Rider,” “Apocalypse Now” and “Blue Velvet” drew on his early out-of-control experiences as part of a new generation of Hollywood rebel, died at his home in Venice, Calif., on Saturday, The Associated Press reported. He was 74.

Thank you for posting this. I forgot about these commercials featuring Dennis Hopper. I love the one about Junior Seau. Good stuff. I know that most people will remember Mr. Hopper as Shooter Flatch and the villain in Speed, but he had a long and amazing career. R.I.P Mr. Hopper.

He was in "Rebel Without a Cause" and "Giant" with James Dean and "The Sons of Katie Elder" with Deano and the Duke as a young actor.  Really changed the course of American cinema (life?) by starring, directing, and co-writing "Easy Rider."  Great roles in "Hoosiers" and "Apocalypse Now."  Seems like he had a lot of fun along the way too.

RIP.

It's kind of a crappy movie...but the scene with Christopher Walken AND Hopper in True Romance has to go down as one of the great scene-chewing moments in cinema history.
