Michigan alums in Southern Cal/West Coast?

Submitted by amir_6 on

I'm expecting Staples Center to be rockin' with Michigan fans come Thursday night. Many alums in that part of the country! Should we expect an environment similar to MSG during the B1G Tourny?

Ring your suite attendant immediately upon arrival. Domestic 6-packs run about $35 @ Staples Center. Total no-brainer on suite-level. The food menu is terrific (and expansive). Tip them well, and they will be super attentive to your food & beverage needs. So jealous. Go Blue!

I live out here in the Northwest and because there aren’t many traditionally good basketball schools out here, Gonzaga is kind of like the adopted school for fans, not just alums. Same goes with Boise State in football. A small, basketball version of Notre Dame or the Green Bay Packers here in the northwest.

Gonzaga will have a decent contingent. It’s not right down the road but it’s the same coastline anyway. A&M will probably travel fairly decently, and I’m assuming that with FSU, they won’t have many since this isn’t football and most FSU fans live within a 200 mile radius of Tallahassee.

Michigan should be the biggest contingent there.

Confession:  I collect basketball tickets.  No, I am not the guy standing by the exit at Crisler.  I have been to every tournament game since Beilein started at Michigan.  I won't be there this weekend.  I have 2 tickets and a program from Wichita or any other NCAA Tournament game including the 2013 Final Four that I would trade someone for the 2 ticket stubs from the games in LA.  They have to be the "NCAA" issued tickets not the box office tickets.  You go to the game and then mail me a ticket from each day afterwards and I will send you whatever you might be interested in from my collection.  If interested just reply and we will figure out how to work it out.  Wishing I could be there! Go Blue!!!

I live in Arcadia 11 miles from Staples, can't make the Game Thursday but have a travel recommendation. Take the Gold Line Train to Union Station Transfer to the Red Line go 3 stops take the Blue Line one stop to Staples Center and reverse afterwards. Choose any Gold Line (off the 210 Freeway ) Station East of Sierra Madre Villa (including that station) park for free buy a tap card and it should only cost you 1.75 to 2.25 plus 1 dollar one time for a tap card each way. Leave from said station at least two hours before game time you should get to Staples one hour or so before the game. You will bypass the hell of LA traffic on any freeway ( the 10, 110, 710, 405, 101 or the 5) and save on parking. If you have not been into LA on any evening driving you will thank me for avoiding that true hell of an experience.

I'm landing at SFO two hours before the game for a weekend Napa trip with the wife before a convention in San Jose -- anyone know of any gatherings in the Bay Area?

LA alum here! Will be attending with at least one, and possibly 2-3, other young alums! 2 tickets in Section 106, possibly will have two more depending on if the others can make it.

See you in Staples!!!

I'll be in row 4! I'm excited as well to be so close, although we technically are more like row 15 and 17 (106 goes A-M then 1-20).

We'll be plenty loud, hope you'll help us out :)

It’ll be a VERY large Michigan faction...Needed >2500 priority points to get seats in the lower bowl. That’s a fairly high number.

Thanks for this - I have been wondering whether it would be cheaper to donate to the athletic department than to scalp tickets for major events.  I think this confirms it is not and I shall keep donations with the academic parts of the university.

Michigan will have at least 70% of the fans, I’d guess. Certainly for the first game. We had a 24 hour head start getting tickets and there are way more M grads here than TAMU fans, plus not a ton of A&M basketball fans out there. I’m going in a group of 10 M grads.
