Peition to Name the Crisler Hardwood after John Beilein

That's not enough

Honestly I thought the same thing on my way to the gym this morning!

He wins the right way. Best coach in the conference and it ain’t even close.

Im on board.  This man has earned it.

After he retires. It's weird to do while a coach is still active in my opinion.

Wait until he's not coaching anymore

I think we wait until he's done with his career. It would be a good way to commemorate that. I just feel awkward doing it when he is the current coach.

I think he would feel the same about it himself, too.

But I still agree that you have to wait till the man retires. What a coach!

And when that day comes it'll be well deserved. Personally, I'm going to enjoy what Coach B and the team are doing now.

I'll give you credit for consistency, though.

after so many years of irrelevance in basketball, it's nice to see what coach has been able to do. honestly, I was skeptical at first. what a fool I was. not only is he such a fantastic coach, he is a fantastic human being. what a great leader of men. congrats coach, what a remarkable tenure you've had. and, it's nice to not worry about the fbi!

I was actually thinking about this last night. Build the man a staute and name the arena after him.

Wait... signing this doesn't preclude us from also having a JB statue with a Supersoaker right?

As of right now,he's the best coach since Bo.

Only arguement against this is that it's gonna be awkward having Beilein's name imprinted both on the Crisler Center hardwood and the Breslin Center's deed of ownership

I was a teenager through the fab five and years of darkness afterwards so to me this is amazing.  He deserves one if not several of the suggestions that have been stated. After he decides to hang it up, kinda feels weird to rename the court or erect a statue while the man is still coaching hopefully we have many more years of success and celebration . 

I agree to wait until he retires. Hopefully not for a long time and after several more banners, All Americans and NBA prospects!

 

It's not his style. He measures his success by the character of his players and isn't interested in this type of attention.

I agree, wait until he's done, but yes, for his record and his character. The quintessential Michigan Man.

He's got the "Juice" and has earned it. So glad JB is the coach at Michigan.

You want to honor the man so much but,  in your overzealousness, you potentially shortchange him on two fronts:

First, what if he eventually deserves more? Give him a chance to earn a bigger honor. Naming the court after him now would preclude something bigger later. 

Second, why would you want to rob the guy of a huge meaninfgul ceremony after he retires? Let him celebrate winning tourneys now; save the monuments for later. Dont rob him of that later in life. 

So glad we didn't overreact and name the court after Ellerbe's inaugural season and Big Ten tourney championship.

I love JB to death.   I'm totally fine with bestowing a significant honor in his name.   

 

We really should give the basketball court to Beilein and the hockey rink to Red.
