100 wins over MSU

Submitted by Wolverine Devotee on

Ladies and gentleman, we just witnessed the 100th Michigan win all-time over MSU.

For those of you who said we'd get 100 in the tournament back in the 99 wins thread in January, bless you.

This was also Michigan's first win over the #2 ranked team since the 1993 Final Four over Kentucky.

That photo set the tone for M. Sparty wasn’t going to bully M today. Props to Matthews for standing his ground without doing something stupid and hurting the team. GO BLUE!

Some similarities to the game in East Lansing this year. We jumped out to an early lead, MSU fought back and had a small half-time lead. Then UofM just slowly ground down MSU and won by a comfortable margin.

True story, when I interned with Detroit Mercy, we hosted a HS basketball tournament which featured Detroit Jesuit which had Cassius Winston on it. Izzo visited the tournament. I remember watching him wait in line to buy an admission ticket like any other average person, he sat through an entire game that didn't feature Winston, and then talked to Winston and his family after the game. Little did I know then that Izzo was making a fatal flaw in not spending his time recruting Xavier Simpson, and that Cassius was wasting his time talking to Izzo. Go Blue!

Other little tidbit: this win puts Beilein 100 games above .500 at Michigan (242-142) for the first time.

Let's hope he coaches here long enough to get to 200 over.

That block pretty much knocked Ward out of the game. Messed him up. Didn't do jack all afternoon. Just awesome.

Geez Purdue and PSU look like crap.

93 WD, we vacated 7 in the 90's for the recruiting scandal.  I'm all for counting wins but Louisville is doing that for their Nat Champ in 2013 and we're better than that.
