MSU or Wisconsin?

Assuming we can beat an overrated Nebraska team, are we better off facing MSU with a chance at a win over a potential number 1 seed or taking the easier rout to the btt championship by playing Wisconsin?

Give me MSU... all day! We match up very well against them. We can validate our first win against them. We can claim dominance over them again. We have a better coach, a better coaching staff, and karma on our side! Beating Michigan State would also put us in the conversation for a four seed. I do not see any downside to playing them. If they beat us, ho-hum, they were supposed to beat us and they have a dirty program.

There are pros and cons both ways.

  • It would be nice to see comeuppance for MSU by losing to Wisconsin, however,
  • It would also be very nice to be able to beat them twice this season.
  • It would be easier to play against Wisconsin, however,
  • It would be better for Michigan's seeding in the NCAA to beat MSU (quadrant 1 win).
  • It would be nice to see MSU lose to Wisconsin, and be seeded lower, however
  • It would be awesome to see MSU's tears of infinite sorrow if losing to Michigan.

Honestly, I don't care, but if I was forced to choose, I thinj MSU will win against Wisconsin anyway, so I will focus on that as the likely opponent.

Since it's against Wisconsin and we have to be somewhat realistic, I would root for MSU to lose by 1.  38-37.

And then I would like the reporters to only ask Izzo questions about basketball:

"When you field a basketball team playing a basketball game, which only has to do with the round ball on the 94 foot court with a 10 foot rim...why do you choose to play rapists?"

"Jaren Jackson is obviously more powerful than his opponents and when he throws his weight around he seems to get the benefit of the doubt from officials.  Do you feel this is analogous to Adrien Payne's actions off the court and the local police authority's resonse?"

"Seriously, you're going to dictate to the free press that we can't ask a question about how you have no fucking morals, you fucking whiny bitch?  Fine.  You lost to Middle Tennessee State as a 2-seed.  That's a not a question, I'm just reminding you."

"Coach Izzo, one question for you. Basketball what are your thoughts on basketball the perception that's out there of msu, yourself included, fostering basketball an environment of athlete entitlement, particularly in regards basketball to sexual assault basketball basketball basketball?

this is the right answer ... there are pros and cons with both

I don't care about MAC or Wisconsin so I cheer based on what helps Michigan.

If you care more about a Big Ten Tournament Title ... cheer for Bucky

If you care more about our seeding next week, another chance at a quality win (and avoiding a chance at a bad lost) ... cheer for $40 payback U

I am pretty ambivalent. I think we have a good team that can beat anyone, but 6 in a row is a tall task regardless of seed line. I like winning things. So, I think I lean slightly to the "let's win the BTT," but it is close.

Ideas that are silly ...

WE MUST ONLY THINK OF NEBRASKA  --- We aren't players. I am willing to accept that the crowd can affect games in minor ways, but otherwise no. I will be watching the game from my couch.

WE NEED TO VALIDATE OUR WIN AGAINST STATE .... Nope, they could beat us by 30. We will still have Moe and the boys owning their souls on their court

I know the acronym doesn't match, but I prefer Infowars State University given that their administration and fanbase believe there's a massive FBI/NCAA/Blue Wall/media/ESPN/Paula LaVigne/Yahoo/Pete Thamel conspiracy against MSU.

I realize you said should we beat them, I don't care whom we play as long as we play to our capabilities we can beat anyone.

Today's game was a cluster fuck yet somehow we won, gotta play way better than we did against Iowa.

Personally, I'm not cashing in the Nebraska game quite yet, but to play along I'll say MSU. If we win, we jump up the seed ranks. If we lose, it doesn't hurt us at all. I think the opportunity for an impact win, without any real risk, is a good thing.

I always laugh at these comments. As if us, as fans, have to stay focused on the next game, or the team will lose focus and thus - lose the game.

OP asks a hypothetical question on who we would prefer to play if, and only if, we beat Neb. Im mixed on this one. I always want MSU to lose and them losing their first game of the tournament would be fun. That said, a chance to beat them again is very enticing not to mention good for our seeding.
