He's with us!
While some feared that Dakich would get hot and burn Michigan with some baskets, he instead went 0-3 with a turnover in 22! minutes on the floor.
I'm not saying that Dakich was intentionally bad but he certainly played his part in Michigan's win over OSU.
GO BLUE!

It's truly incredible that a team that plays Andrew Dakich for over half the game is in the top 10. Holtmann worked some magic this year, because OSU really isn't very talented.
February 18th, 2018 at 5:24 PM ^
Holtmann must have done a good job this year overall to post that record, but I was amazed that he apparently didn't instruct his players to foul either Simpson or Matthews down the stretch. Both handled the ball extensively down the stretch yet somehow it was Robinson and MAAR that got fouled late.

But they were fouling intentionally.
On one possession, Simpson passed it to Matthews (both closely guarded) who passed it to Robinson . . . who was fouled. If you're going to foul deliberately and allow two 50% guys to pass it to a 90% shooter, and then foul him, that's a coaching error.

Making sure your guys know what they're doing out there is a big part of coaching. If his guys didn't know that Robinson's a 90% shooter, that's on him.

February 18th, 2018 at 6:49 PM ^
They also fouled MAAR deliberately down the stretch, so it's not clear to me what exactly they were trying to do.
It's just very odd to me that this late in the season, a Michigan opponent apparently didn't recognize which guys to foul. You'd think that would be near the top of the gameplan.
February 18th, 2018 at 6:58 PM ^
That's because MAAR was the exclusive ball handler at that point

Simpson had the ball plenty down the stretch. They had their opportunities to foul him, if they wanted.

Matta always recruited the lights out at OSU. But his last few years the teams just fell apart for one reason or another.

He was on the team the last two years when they were atrocious (yet still owned us). The turn around has been amazing.
February 19th, 2018 at 3:03 AM ^
And now Michigan and OSU have the same overall records this season: 22-7. Maybe the oddsmakers and gamblers had OSU figured out before the media did. I wonder if Michigan will be ranked over OSU?
The media and coaches can't use Big Ten "weakness" as an excuse for criticizing the Big Ten and then give OSU the nod over Michigan for a "better conference record."

What have you done to make everyone hate you?

He's just a stereotype troll who spams every single thread. Best just to ignore him and inform the mods that he is back again.

Apparently, the answer is racist internet trolls doing an act that would have shamed a blackface-wearing vaudeville comedian in 1879.

February 18th, 2018 at 5:24 PM ^
Just wait. His act will become painfully obvious soon enough, before he gets banned again.

What has he done? Only everything.
The best part is that banning these accounts opens me up to gratuitous personal abuse and in one case an accusation that I was a racist too, but whatever.
February 18th, 2018 at 6:03 PM ^
Trying to manage the wilds of internet comment boards must generally be a thankless task -- so, thank you, from all of us who'd just like to discuss Michigan athletics without having to put up with the trolls.

You should post his whiny complaints in this thread for entertainment value.

Aren't you able to see the IP that users have when they login? A long time ago I was doing technical help for another message board and it was really easy to ban by IP or at least see multiple users coming in on the same IP.
While not 100% foolproof it did make it easy when users were posting, then logging out, then loggin in again as a different user.

As snakebitten as I feel about OSU in general, and as much as I like Andrew Dakich, between the podcast and his repeatedly giving up his redshirt to help the team... I never really worried much about him scoring a lot of points. :)
99 problems with OSU, but Dakich ain't one.

I think the other guy blew the help there. Dakich looked like that FL lineman on the sack for the fumble earlier this year.

I bet he's going to be real sad about the thread on MgoBlog dissing his....basketball prowess. Nothing personal was said. Hell I bet his own dad is harder on him after today's performance!
February 18th, 2018 at 5:43 PM ^
Eh, as much as I'll defend Dakich from people who legit hate him for suiting up with the cooler poopers, I'm 100% for goofing on him for taking the L today. Good kid, good podcast and props to him (and tbh the rest of OSU - there should be no debate for B1G coach of the year) for exceeding expectations but I'll never not gloat over OSU losing
