SI Reporting McElwain "strong candidate" to Michigan citing "Sources"
Bruce Feldman reporting
"Jim McElwain has emerged as a strong candidate to join Jim Harbaugh’s staff at Michigan working with receivers, multiple sources told SI"
Unsure if this means anything more than clickbait. Feldman citing "multiple" sources. Whatever.

Franks threw like a 35 yard pass to Hammond on the edge right over the shoulder, beating a 5 man rush and Lavert on Hammond and would have scored if not for some dumb snap shit happening IIRC. They had opportunities created solely from wrinkles and good coaching. That's my point.
February 10th, 2018 at 11:49 PM ^
They definitely had some opportunities, none of them were good, but they had some

You shouldn't try to defend an uninformed statement with another one. It rarely works out.
February 10th, 2018 at 11:10 PM ^
No, our QB racked up 14 for the gators and they managed 192 yards and 3 points
February 10th, 2018 at 11:09 PM ^
Not sure if serious...
February 10th, 2018 at 11:09 PM ^
I like this hire, but their offense did not hang 17 on us. They scored 3, all on the first drive. Net 1 if you count the -2 for the saftey. 14 were from defense.

Fielded some of the worst offenses that I can remember while at Florida. We all know this to be true.
February 10th, 2018 at 11:52 PM ^
Serious question. Why don't you find a different team to follow since you seem to be one of the most miserable UM fans ever? It's really not worth it. Find a new hobby and try to make life fun again.

Lol, he’s not a Michigan fan
February 11th, 2018 at 12:57 AM ^
Lol. Don't tell me that 6 months ago you would have been enthusiastic about Michigan being the next to hire the chubby shark lover. I'm not going to immediately change my opinion just because JH is hiring him as a last resort.
At any rate, I hope it works out
February 11th, 2018 at 9:12 AM ^
honestly, yes, if you would've told me 6 months ago he'd be available, yes, would've been good with it. he's good at offensive coordinating. I would expect he can handle coaching wr. Just because the situation was too big for him at Florida, does not mean he can't work out here for a year or 2.

Your comments on Sharkboy are not the reason you’re not a Michigan fan. Your comments on Michigan sports in general are

It's for WR coach, not a coordinator position. But I'll take it, anyway...
February 11th, 2018 at 9:15 AM ^
Would have no issue whatsoever. He's better than what we have now, that's pretty factual.
February 11th, 2018 at 11:19 AM ^
Looking at his Wikipedia page, it appears that he was a WR coach from 1995-2005 with QB coach sprinkled in there for a bit as well. He did a one year stop as strictly a QB coach in the NFL, then became a coordinator at Fresno and Alabama. Seems like he's highly qualified.

Excellent hire

McElwain is a strong offensive mind and good developer of functional talent. He struggled as a HC, but a very strong offensive coach.

So, Coach McElwain, any thoughts on Jim Harbaugh? https://t.co/kIXkkdbV5D pic.twitter.com/2scuYCHpUF

the infamous "they're threatening my family" presser. The guy was toast when he left Gainesville, and they will chuckle at the idea he's coming to Ann Arbor. The scorn for him here was pronounced not too long ago--now the herd is stampeding in the other direction. It's just an assistant hire and a long way down for McElwain. But pretending that bringing in a guy who was so badly exposed such a short time ago is wonderful news is. . . to my mind. . . exaggerated. And I'm usually the guy counseling lots more patience than is exhibited here for wins and Harbaugh. This is a good old boy landing somewhere in a town and environment that I thought was a bit beyond that. Obviously not.
February 11th, 2018 at 9:18 AM ^
that he was a respected OC, that's just true. There are literally dozens of good OC's/DC's that were not good HC's, and returned to coordinator jobs and prospered. The florida part of his resume does not scare me at all,.
February 11th, 2018 at 9:24 AM ^
I wish him all success here if he comes. And us, of course. The various whiffs of impropriety and poor handling of kids--suspensions, etc.--looked like a fairly real thing over there, too, but. . . let's see what happens.
February 10th, 2018 at 11:03 PM ^
O__O Well this is gonna be awkward...
Probably a good hire tho
February 11th, 2018 at 12:46 AM ^
I don’t think Harbaugh gives a shit. The Enos hire is proof of that. Now, what do we do with Drevno? Can we possibly get him to take a HS Head Coaching position? Is Pioneer hiring? I hear Jim has connections over there.

he was a great o-coordinator. Things just didnt work out at UF some guys just arent great head coaches on bigger stages.
February 10th, 2018 at 11:18 PM ^
Is that you?
February 11th, 2018 at 1:28 AM ^
IIRC he is still Saban’s longest serving OC at Bama during his whole tenure there.
2007: Major Applewhite
2008-2011: McElwain
2012-2013: Nuss
2014-2016: Kiffin
2016: Sark (title game)
2017: Brian Daboll
2018: Mike Locksley
Saban pushed Nuss and Kiffin out the door. He didn’t do that with Mac.
February 11th, 2018 at 8:46 AM ^
He was a great coordinator at Bama, where everyone suddenly becomes a great coordinator. But he, like Nuss, showed nothing great afterward. Florida’s o was an absolute lox.
February 11th, 2018 at 10:37 AM ^
How was his time at CSU?
February 10th, 2018 at 11:12 PM ^
