SI Reporting McElwain "strong candidate" to Michigan citing "Sources"

Submitted by clarkiefromcanada on

Bruce Feldman reporting

"Jim McElwain has emerged as a strong candidate to join Jim Harbaugh’s staff at Michigan working with receivers, multiple sources told SI"

Unsure if this means anything more than clickbait. Feldman citing "multiple" sources. Whatever.

Serious question.  Why don't you find a different team to follow since you seem to be one of the most miserable UM fans ever?  It's really not worth it.  Find a new hobby and try to make life fun again.

Lol. Don't tell me that 6 months ago you would have been enthusiastic about Michigan being the next to hire the chubby shark lover. I'm not going to immediately change my opinion just because JH is hiring him as a last resort.

At any rate, I hope it works out

honestly, yes, if you would've told me 6 months ago he'd be available, yes, would've been good with it. he's good at offensive coordinating. I would expect he can handle coaching wr. Just because the situation was too big for him at Florida, does not mean he can't work out here for a year or 2.

Your comments on Sharkboy are not the reason you’re not a Michigan fan. Your comments on Michigan sports in general are

Looking at his Wikipedia page, it appears that he was a WR coach from 1995-2005 with QB coach sprinkled in there for a bit as well. He did a one year stop as strictly a QB coach in the NFL, then became a coordinator at Fresno and Alabama. Seems like he's highly qualified.

the infamous "they're threatening my family" presser. The guy was toast when he left Gainesville, and they will chuckle at the idea he's coming to Ann Arbor. The scorn for him here was pronounced not too long ago--now the herd is stampeding in the other direction. It's just an assistant hire and a long way down for McElwain. But pretending that bringing in a guy who was so badly exposed such a short time ago is wonderful news is. . . to my mind. . . exaggerated. And I'm usually the guy counseling lots more patience than is exhibited here for wins and Harbaugh. This is a good old boy landing somewhere in a town and environment that I thought was a bit beyond that. Obviously not.

IIRC he is still Saban’s longest serving OC at Bama during his whole tenure there.

2007: Major Applewhite

2008-2011: McElwain

2012-2013: Nuss

2014-2016: Kiffin

2016: Sark (title game)

2017: Brian Daboll

2018: Mike Locksley

Saban pushed Nuss and Kiffin out the door. He didn’t do that with Mac.
