Unsure if this means anything more than clickbait. Feldman citing "multiple" sources. Whatever.

I agree with you brutus.
However we will most likely not be able to keep him on staff for more than 2 years, especially if he is a wr coach. Urban for example has found a way to keep Johnson, Schiano, Wilson, Day, and Combs for 3+ years and some much longer. I know all of those are not x-coaches, but all have their names being thrown around every off season for promotions, yet they all come back.

Yes and no... OSU hires people with some questionable background, also - Larry Johnson and Schiano from PSU come to mind immediately. Kevin Wilson quickly after he was fired for abusing players (however stretched that might've been). Not everyone, but a fair amount. The only 'questionable' thing about McElwain is that he handled some internet joke very poorly, and whined about threats against his family. I have no doubt that some internet jackass threatened him in some innocuous way, and he probably deleted that shit. UF took it as a good reason to fire him becuase they wanted him gone anyway. Fine.
He seems emminently capable as a WR coach, which is the speculation (not as coordinator of anything, according to the Feldman report). Seems like a good humbling for the ex-coach of football factory Floriduh, trying to rehab his image. I'll take it. And I doubt Harbaugh cares one rats ass about sharks...

I know his resume is good but even his time at Florida makes this a good hire. Their wide receivers were always pretty good and thats what he is doing for Michigan

Everything here was very successful at WR (the point of emphasis for us, since that's what he's described as doing), except that year with the Raiders, but... that was the Raiders, lol

With all the young talent M has a wideout and slot, player development is going to be a big deal. An experienced WR coach is a definitely a plus. After the Florida meltdown, this a great landing spot for him to coax the talent to perform at a high level and move on from the Florida experience. Good move to reboot career in AA.

It's his second choice, no need to exaggerate. His first choice was Enos, who Jim had actually talked to last year. Seeing as how that's true, Enos still being the first choice may have been some part prearranged/obligatory based on limited knowledge because Jim didn't know McElwain would be available. McElwain's resume is better than Enos' - this "second choice" is the better hire than the "first choice".

He will help WR and even QBs. He may add to the game plan in the passing downs. I think he will do well here and may one day take over as the primary OC.

Your argument seems to be: either he gets all the credit for everything, or none of the credit. Turns out that nuance and situational differences matter.
He couldn't field a good offense in THREE YEARS in Florida. Florida! The number two state for blue chip recruits, barely a hair behind Texas.
At best, his time at Alabama is uncertain. Almost every OC has had success at Alabama and under Saban. They are a juggernaut. Nussmeier did well there. You probably thought Nuss was Jesus when we hired him.

I said Alabama was a juggernaut. Not Alabama's offense. As in, they are so dominant on D and on the Oline, that they can just grind you down and win. As in, it's hard to give McElwain a lot of credit for that.
Being a HC is different than coordinating, no kidding. McElwain's offense (which he ran) as a HC was not good.
This is not that hard.

True. Though much like Michigan this past year, he had no answers at QB despite trying multiple options
