A forgettable week on the market deserves extra Friday posbanging to make up for it.

Would you rather have me creeping around your barn or FauxMo, XM?  Today was my turn, but for some reason Faux volunteered.  I talked him out of it but he was pretty insistent.

About the stock market. It’s a bit volatile right now but has been way up over the last several months. Enjoy the ride knowing you’ve had lots of gains! (Even if it was down yesterday) posbang for growing 401k!

The correction is a good thing.

Prevents a future bubble crash which is painful as hell.

It's necessary medicine that we need to take.

Some perspective . . . I've lost half my money in the stock market twice since 2000, in the span of only eight years.

Yet I've tripled my money since then.

Markets go up and down . . . on their way to going up over the long term.

It was way up over the last several months. And one week just took that all away. S&P back to November levels. Still above where it was a year ago or even moreso beyond that. Yet the market has been remarkably not volatile for a while now.

Part of what will end up as an enjoy the ride (or don't) kind of deal will be how irrational things get. AAPL announced earnings, for instance, and they weren't great. AAPL is in the DJIA so they bring the DJIA down, which thus brings the broader market down even though that's kind of an idiosyncratic connection. Add in full employment and pending interest rate rises because the Fed fears inflation and easy money may be gone for a little while.

Strap in and bangs away!

From Harbaugh's NSD Presser:

"On offense now, we are going through a self-scout period  . . . and looking at ways to get our offense up to where our defense is."

That's all I wanted to hear.

The devil's in the details, but you can't fix a problem until you acknowledge there is a problem.

No more endlessly pumping the dry well.

This was a long week, but... I get to "work from home" today, and, I'm not doing shit. I mean, I put in my two weeks notice already. what are they going to do, fire me?

I had one like that several years ago, when I left a position that had become impossible due to a weasel woman who had wormed her way into becoming my direct supervisor. When my "taking shit level" had reached full, I gave my notice to the general manager, a gutless bozo with the same natural leadership abilities as Frank Burns.

Him: Isn't there any way I can get you to stay?

Me: Yes, but you won't do it.

Him: Tell what it will take.

Me: Remove her as my supervisor.

Him: I can't do that!

Me: Didn't I just say that?

Him: (crickets)

That was very satisfying, and I've never regretted the decision. I wish you the same.

Men’s B ball team will be dancing, so will the women. Football will rise up again this season. Scandals are few and high character coaches are many. This is my first Friday Posbang... bang away!

Scrolling and banging my way through this thread, it's always interesting to see usernames of people that I've never seen comment before, but they signed up four or six years ago.

Here's to a bang for the lurkers!
