I have no idea why anyone believes academics means anything. To regular students, there are differences academically between OSU and UM that can affect you down the line. But unless you are really looking at a particular field of study, a general degree from either school is functionally the same to most.

While I like Early Signing Day for both the schools and athletes, I have the exact feeling I had on Christmas morning as a child when my parents relented and let us open our gifts on Christmas Eve.  Still happy to see what was in the stocking, grateful for what we got, but not quite as excited as years past when we only opened a couple gifts on Christmas Eve*.

*Those couple of gifts would be like Early Enrollees in my strained analogy.

I don't want to be totally negative but we have really bungled O-line recruiting at or near the signing deadline the last couple years.  Losting Hamilton to Stanford, Wilson to Georgia, and NPF is brutal.  We are really lucky there was an early signing period this year so we had guys locked in before all our staff changes started happening.  I'm not complaining about recruiting overall, we just have had bad luck or something on these late O-line guys.

Wilson committed to Georgia in mid-December. We got Chuck Filiaga in January.

It's the nature of the beast with big-time recruits. Big-time players have several big-time programs trying to pull them in difference directions. When there are 5 teams with a good shot at a kid in January/February, you're probably only going to win about 20% of those battles.

He played in 5 games last year.

He was basically their #3 Tackle - behind:

Orlando Brown - Unanimous first-team All-American, Big 12 Offensive Lineman of the Year, Outland Trophy finalist

Bobby Evans - All-Big 12 Honorable Mention

I think "buried on the bench" is a little inaccurate.

who would have thought in year 4 harbaugh would bring in this kind of class. was really hoping for both NPF and Anderson. but now just hoping for Anderson who seems to be heading to Texas. if any of the frosh tackles were capable starters last wouldn't they have seen the field like newsome did in harbaughs first year. Idk who's going to play OT if newsome cant. really disappointing if we don't fill those 2 holes on what should be an otherwise really solid team.
