2018 PWO QB Kyle Grady Q & A

Submitted by San Diego Mick on

Hi folks, I was recently invited to the Point Loma HS Football Awards Banquet out here and saw Kyle Grady there of course and I thought I would put together a little Q & A Thread so that we can get to know him.

I told him I was planning on doing this and he was definitely positive about it. I emailed him a few questions and I'll cut and paste his exact answers. He seems to be a terrific young man in my few encounters with him and I'm really excited for him and looking forward to following his career.

Here we go:

- Height and Weight....6'3" and 180 lbs., runs a 4.64 in the 40

Stats for Senior Season.....121/180  (67%) 2,063 yds   17 TD's, 616 yds rushing  on 110 carries  and 10 TDs. He was also a 2 year captain, impressive!

- Why Michigan?

"Perfect fit academically and athletically, facilities are state of the art, and most of all the coaching staff led by Coach Harbaugh do a phenomenal job and I can’t wait to work with them".

- What do you plan on majoring in?

"Plan on pursuing a business degree"

What are your goals and aspirations?

"Primary goal is to get drafted, second would be to start a business, other than that I am also interested in pursuing a career in the Navy or Marines as an officer, as well as coaching at the college level or above".

When do you plan on moving to A2 and starting your college career?

"Move out to AA mid-june, right after graduation and as soon as I can pack my things".

Add anything that you think will be interesting about yourself.

"I love to snowboard, I fly helicopters, I surf"

He has a 5.0 GPA and presents himself in a very mature way, I'm going to be rooting for him to do great things, I've been very impressed by him and I wish him the best of luck. If you see him around campus please welcome him with open arms and help him get to know the wonderful city of Ann Arbor, I'm sure he'll appreciate it as he'll be a long way from home. BTW, I will be emailing him a link to this thread, FYI. So if you have questions for him, I'm sure he wouldn't mind answering them as he'll be reading the comments.

Here's a link to his HUDL Page and Highlights:

The competition level is pretty good too, they played quite a few ranked teams.

Years ago there was a board that used to do a sports babe of the day thread. The moderator who selected the women and started the thread used to link the thread on the woman's facebook. By the time the woman got to the thread, there were usually three pages of comments destroying her. Some of those threads were pretty uncomfortable.

many schools have 4.0 as the baseline. my niece is a high school freshman and her honors track allows her to score up to a 4.5. the most advanced track allows up to a 5.0. basically, you get bonus points for taking tougher classes.

I'm pretty sure!

EDIT:

I shouldn't have said this, my frustration with Peters was because of his play in the bowl game, I felt like he played scared in that game and you just can't do that in a physical sport.

Then I thought about that hit he took and it might have shaken him way more than we thought, let's hope he recovers physically and emotionally and does some special things so I apologize for my initial thinking.

Fans were so willing to move on from Wilton Speight that they wanted someone - anyone - not named Speight to become the QB.

And this season proved why Speight was the starter. For all the faults on offense, our offense was designed to be a big strike offense. We had 2 talented freshmen WRs that were deep threats. We lost Tarik Black and that allowed defenses to double DPJ if necesary. But then Speight went down and we had no one that could throw deep consistently so DPJ wasn't maximized.

Remember the SD surf when you are in AA in the winter.  Those rides will keep you warm in your mind.  Best of luck in all your endeavors.  Go Blue.

Surfers have no fear.

Even though southeastern Michigan is mostly flat, this is the perfect week for snowboarding all the same as many of us are running out of places to put the damn snow on our own property. If nothing else, if you own an ATV or snowmobile around here, even the major streets are currently fair game.

Yes, the correct hashtag where I am is #DownriverLife

is an excellent reminder (to me at least) that everyone who suits up for UM is incredibly special and one of a very select few. We need to celebrate them more for who they are off the field, and crticize them less for what happens on the field.  Welcome, Kyle. You already have at least one new fan,

From his goals it sounds like ROTC wasn't the best fit, nor is going straight to the airforce academy. Hope he gets a Pro offer, or otherwise has a blast at Michigan.

Also if he ends up wanting to pursue a military career, I can tell you with some experience that the ideal candidate for all services for officer school (from candidates with a degree in hand) is a hard charger from a good institution. Add being on the football team to that and I can't see anyone rejecting an application for the basic officer course/or whatever its called based on the service he chooses. They might even offer tuition forgiveness, depending on the service/what's needed. Go Blue!
