OT: Help Finding Hopslam in CA
January 27th, 2018 at 2:44 PM ^
Can't help with Hopslam, but now we all know that your username is a big, fat, filthy lie!
January 27th, 2018 at 2:46 PM ^
OP: Wait, so you live in the area? (Obscure, but not necessarily unpleasant, location for an MGoBlogger ...) And you're addicted? What have you done to date? Just curious ...
January 27th, 2018 at 3:01 PM ^
I'm an aerospace engineer so that's why I'm in this area. And the addiction part was a joke.
January 27th, 2018 at 4:03 PM ^
Seriously, it’s not rocket science... just takes patience.
January 27th, 2018 at 4:06 PM ^
That's always been one of my goals. I'm wrapping up grad school this semester; maybe I'll finally do it right after that.
January 27th, 2018 at 2:55 PM ^
I can't even find it in the Ann Arbor/Dexter area anymore. Good luck.
January 27th, 2018 at 2:56 PM ^
Really??? I live on the far west side of AA, and it's all over. It was at that liquor store on Stadium by the Planet Fitness that looks like a castle (can't remember the name). Hell, BW3s had it on tap the other day???
January 27th, 2018 at 3:01 PM ^
I haven’t been to a store that doesn’t have it in Ann Arbor honestly.
January 27th, 2018 at 3:10 PM ^
I guess I haven't looked hard enough. The place where I normally get it sold out in a week. I've looked at a few other places and haven't seen it.
January 27th, 2018 at 3:58 PM ^
Well you know, I'm no detective, but the pretty much the first step in finding something - really, anything at all - is to, you know, look! :-D
January 27th, 2018 at 4:50 PM ^
I live in downriver Wayne County and you can find it at most of the places I've been too, even the dinky little liquor store out in front of my subdivision.
Woodhaven and Taylor Meijers are both stocking Hopslam in rather impressive quantities for the time being.
January 27th, 2018 at 9:41 PM ^
excellent place to grab some booze and brews.
January 28th, 2018 at 3:24 PM ^
The place that sells beer and wine and looks like a castle is called "Wine Castle"? HOW do people come up with these names??? [I probably should have been able to guess that, eh? :-)]
January 27th, 2018 at 2:55 PM ^
Might want to go to BeerAdvocate. Or use Untappd and BeerMenus apps to find said overhyped beer.... Tweed>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Hopslam
January 27th, 2018 at 2:57 PM ^
Its a good batch this year. Hope you find some.
January 27th, 2018 at 3:06 PM ^
I thought the exact opposite. Lots of alcohol heat this year. But, different batches, different palates.
January 27th, 2018 at 4:09 PM ^
I've had ~5 cans and a couple drafts. Definitely beats last year IMO. But like you said... different palates. Warm up beer helps - something lighter first.
January 27th, 2018 at 3:02 PM ^
Funny you should ask. Just opened my first of the year up at Houghton Lake. This place is fucking weird. No idea how to help you in CA.

East Lansing Costco has a ton for 14.65. Costco sold out around Brighton area.

Thanks, but that's what I was referencing in the OP.

wait 'til nightfall and then shine the MGoBrewMomLight towards the heavens.
She's in California. She'll know what to do.

I was at founder’s last night and they were selling bottles of KBS in the gift shop. They had 4 packs of 12 oz bottles and 750 ml bottles.
I walked out with a case of 12 oz bottles.
January 27th, 2018 at 3:28 PM ^
No idea. But even if I did, I wouldn't help because I think IPAs are the spawn of Satan.
January 27th, 2018 at 3:52 PM ^
If you make it to North County SD it’s all over the place
January 27th, 2018 at 4:11 PM ^
My local Binnys had a good sized stack of Hopslam today. They also had three different 3 Floyd’s - Mikkeller collaboration beers. Two IPAs and a hoppy lager. Looking forward to sampling them this evening.

Sign in to untapped. You can pull up hop slam and it will tell you where people in your area have checked it in. Including bars and stores.
January 27th, 2018 at 4:15 PM ^
Check Ebay
January 27th, 2018 at 4:19 PM ^
There was a stack at Total Wine in Laurel MD.
January 27th, 2018 at 4:20 PM ^
I don't think Bell's distributes it out here. That said I was blown away when I saw it on tap at local watering hole in Hermosa last summer. Clearly an anomaly as the bar owner worked some magic. I'd be shocked if any store in California will get it.
January 27th, 2018 at 7:39 PM ^
I found it last year when I lived in Costa Mesa.
January 27th, 2018 at 4:22 PM ^
Double post. Damn signal at the beach
January 27th, 2018 at 4:23 PM ^
Oh, and I like how helpful the posters are by telling you where you can find it far away from California. Knife twisting...
January 27th, 2018 at 4:24 PM ^
Have you tried the Lagunitas IPAs? They're very good also.
January 27th, 2018 at 5:09 PM ^
Not an IPA, but Lagunitas 12th of Never APA is outstanding.
January 27th, 2018 at 4:25 PM ^
Check to see if there is Total WIne & More in your area - I know there is one in Thousand Oaks, Northridge area.. They typically have the beste sellection of Bell's beer.
January 27th, 2018 at 4:33 PM ^
last year's sucked
January 27th, 2018 at 6:24 PM ^
Saw the light guy in the sky :)
January 27th, 2018 at 7:33 PM ^
That's what I was referencing in OP. It did not work for me.
January 27th, 2018 at 5:07 PM ^
how far are you from the santa ynez valley?
January 27th, 2018 at 5:25 PM ^

Hope this helps.
January 27th, 2018 at 5:42 PM ^
Might be too far to travel, but have you tried Hi Time Wine Cellar in Costa Mesa? They always seem to have the biggest Bells selection out here. My second suggestion would be El Cerrito Liquor in Corona. Good luck!
January 27th, 2018 at 6:03 PM ^
Vendome is a great beer/liquor store all over the SFV. they might have it.
believe we have two hearted on tap right now unless we killed that keg last night.
don't think we've seen Hopslam kegs in LA though.
January 27th, 2018 at 6:14 PM ^
There's dozens of better ipa's here. Branch out a bit.
January 27th, 2018 at 9:00 PM ^
This. Hopslam is really good, but there is soo much amazing beer in Cali plus the stuff that comes down from OR.
January 27th, 2018 at 6:15 PM ^
We do indeed distribute Bell’s - and Hopslam - in southern CA. So Hopslam will be around if you can find it (this is in reference to someone thinking it’s not in Ca). Good luck!
