Jedd Fisch Hired by LA Rams
According to reports Jedd Fisch has been hired as a senior offensive analyst for the LA Rams. They were one of the best, and most improved offenses in the NFL if anyone was wondered.

that is a good hire for the rams and gives Jedd a nice salary for a year while he shops for his next coaching gig.

we have the QB coach for the Cleveland fucking Browns as our passing game coordinator.
Happy for Jedd though. I'd love to see him back at Michigan some day. As the OC. Singular.

This should serve as notice of what the overall football world thinks of Jedd Fisch, but it's not going to stop people from humping his leg I imagine.

for a team that has an OC, a QB coach, a WR coach, and head coach that was one of the best OC's in the game before becoming the HC.
On the one hand, that's a great endorsement from some good (albeit, NFL) offensive minds. But it's merely a support position that's like 3rd at best in the passing game pecking order? Watching film and helping the HC and OC with the game plan but probably not a lot of direct coaching or playcalling.
I'm surprised he didn't get/take an OC position somewhere, but maybe it was too late in the cycle?

given his resume and ambitions. It was reported that he was considered for several OC and other on field jobs. This doesn't seem like much of a job for him.
January 24th, 2018 at 4:58 PM ^
That meant every single NFL team had a chance to bring him on, and almost every college did too. Nobody wanted him as either an OC or position coach.

Its just a parking spot for a year. He'll sit out and be in line for next year's coaching carousel. Plenty of good coaches have done it and I doubt it somehow means that Jed's coaching career is over.

no obsession here, I am a rams fan as well and when i saw the news decided to share with the group because i know a lot of people hoped that the longer it took for him to get a job the more it could mean he ended up back here.

Good for him. It's nice he won't have to move.

Though not a Ram's fan, will pull for them a bit now. Have very fond memories of Jedd's time at Michigan.

Were you counting on them brining in Jed? As someone mentioned, this is approximately his 3rd landing spot since the UCLA staff was fired. There wasn't much chance of him coming here, so this news really doesn't impact UM.

Counting on Pep or Drevno or both being gone. Pretty sure most here thought it a pipe dream for Jed coming back. It is looking like both are staying with the passing of each day. :(

Seems that either his family wants to stay in Los Angeles or he's going to wait for a better gig next year, because he's better than an analyst position.

I don't understand this board's obsession with the guy. He was co-OC for one year here, and we had a decent to good offense with Speight. The next year without him we have an awful offense with Jon OKorn. But people are willing to give all of the credit to the guy who was kind-of-but-not-totally in charge of half of our offense for one year? Come on. This landing spot is a better indication of his actual coaching status than a single year of being on a staff with a decent offense.

I think Jim probably does call some plays but either way that just makes Drevno look that much more, how should I say, not very good? Paying a guy a ton of money who doesn't have the ability to handle the job by himself and coach another position group. Maybe we don't give him enough credit? Either way, doesn't matter who is calling the plays the next year. With this team and experience coming back, there is no reason that there shouldn't be a ton of touchdowns scored. If these main position group guys and coordinators aren't doing enough to assist Jim when the team has the ball, then every damn one of them has to go. This is Michigan and there is no reason that Michigan cant go out anf get the best offensive staff in college football. I don't really know what the hold up is anymore.

I think improvement the year Jedd worked with the QB vs lack of improvement the next year without him, might be cause for some to give him credit.

Was his season this year at UCLA better than his season last year at Michigan?
January 24th, 2018 at 8:16 PM ^
I'd like Harbaugh to find the OC version of Don Brown.

he should have stayed at UCLA and been part of the fisch and chip show
