The State News (MSU Student Paper) Calls For Simon To Resign
January 18th, 2018 at 5:55 PM ^
Valenti was calling for it today. Mike Valenti. She done...
January 18th, 2018 at 5:57 PM ^
And good the MSU students who wrote this. That's got to be hard to do, but I think most agree it's the right thing now. Her not going to day one of the sentencing, then showing up on day two to save face - in addition to the revelations today - are beyond the pale...

Absolutely pathetic and a true show of cowardice to not show up when one of the victims speaking specifically asked you to.
Someone in her situation should make time in their schedule to show up.

She did show up yesterday and got called out by victims. There was a video on DetroitNews website. She didn't show up today (Day 3)
January 18th, 2018 at 6:30 PM ^
Yeah I know she showed up yesterday. I'm talking about today.
Larissa Boyce is scheduled to speak today. She asked MSU pres Lou Anna Simon to attend in person as a favor. She says Simon told her she didn't think it would fit into her schedule.

Boyce is the woman who says she told MSU coach Kathie Klages about Nassar's abuse 20 years ago.

absolutely tone deaf and horrible

"Didn't think it would fit into her schedule."
Speechless.

Sorry!

It's beyond words. Truly disgusting.

was asked by a victim to attend, she is the President of the school where it was allowed to happen even after staff were told about it. She should be there, or she should find a new career.

I apologize if I am posting too many threads about this monster but I know someone that he treated, for a foot problem thank god, and this story has hit really close to home for me as I live in Lansing as well.

I have family that was at Twistars and he ran for school board and lived in my home town.
Fuck Larry Nassar and the MSU administration. Tear them all down. Sue the pants of Simon, Hollis, and Klages as well as Twistars, and US Gymnastics. They were all enablers.
January 18th, 2018 at 6:27 PM ^
Don't forget the osteopathy department. They should share the blame as well.

Take recordings of the impact statements from the 100+ survivors. Compile them into a single audio file. Install a shatterproof speaker in the ceiling of Nassar's cell that plays that audio file on a continuous loop 24/7.
I'd say do the same for Simon's office, but... I'd rather just expel her from said office, yesterday.

As weak and self-absorbed as ever, Larry Nassar complains about having to hear from his victims https://t.co/8xpxmrLYMl

Happily, his is one of the seats up in November. Along with Board President Brian Breslin (son of Jack, for whom the Breslin Center is named).
Vote for literally whoever challenges them. In the Republican primary, if that's contested, and then in the general.

I feel like there's this law around these parts where an educator (including coaches) is mandated to report any abuse (sexual or otherwise).
I would assume that is applicable all the way up to when the State of Michigan asked Simon for information on this tpic and while she did have a lot of inside information on complaints and allegations she (through their attorney) said they had none [no report].
January 18th, 2018 at 7:18 PM ^
Educators and psychologists do, coaches are unclear. Depends if you count them as "educators." Which they definitely are, but the law needs to interpret things the right way. One of the things legislators are talking about doing is making it explicit that coaches are mandatory reporters.
January 18th, 2018 at 6:15 PM ^
They need to clean house, and hopefully set up processes that will make a disaster like this less likely in the future.
January 18th, 2018 at 6:18 PM ^
i've hardly ever seen anything so tone deaf. the hardest thing to read in that editorial was the line that this man could have been stopped in 1997 had MSU people done anything about the allegations. Simon and all of Nassar's protectors in this case have 20 years of further victimization of hundreds of girls on their hands because they didn't stop him when they could.

The board supporting her is quite the opposite. Unless they haven't met yet to vote to fire her.
But I'm not holding my breath.
