ESPN Top 10 ... fail

Submitted by MGoGrendel on

ESPN Top 10 this morning had a couple of sweet hockey goals, a one handed touchdown catch, and a couple of nice college basketball plays.  Each play was shown several times with different angles and slow motion (business as usual).  Number 1 was a complete fail – just a simple dunk by Sparty.  It was only a few seconds long followed by a snarky comment by the ESPN host before cutting to commercials.

They should have used Wagner’s ankle breaking crossover and lay-up late in the game with the score close.  Here is the article with this video and others, including a “Dirk impression”: https://www.sbnation.com/college-basketball/2018/1/13/16888492/michigan-vs-michigan-state-basketball-moritz-wagner-crossover-dunk-dirk-fade

I will try to embed the video below.   Meanwhile, here’s is a snapshot of Sparty on the floor – looks like a sniper took him out!

Let Sparty have a consolation prize. Their best team in a decade, according to Izzo, just got beat down on their home floor. We ruined their season, and it’s awesome.

Agree. I'll take the win over the highlight dunk any day of the week and twice on Sunday, but I'm not surprised it made the Top 10. I mean, if Michigan had the exact same alley-oop I think we would all be saying it was worthy of an ESPY. And I'm with Beilein: huge dunk is still only worth 2 points.

If #1 was that dunk by Schilling, I would not be upset. That dunk was pretty ridiculous.

It’s ok, they still lost the game. I’ll take a win over #1 over SportsCenter every time.

While Wagner's move was great, am I the only one that thinks that's where MAAR was lying injured a few seconds earlier and the sparty player slipped on the sweat they likely didn't entirely mop up? It doesn't look like he gets tripped up but more like his feet just slip out from under him.

MAAR fell down inside the circle almost under the basket while Ward slipped up by the foul line because Wagner crossed him over with a wicked move and he failed trying to move his big lumbering legs. He may have slipped, but it looks more like it was because he lost his balance trying to change directions to keep up with Wagner.

I remember at some point in the first half the announcers said we were managing to survive in the game. Bitch, we were up three and led for most of game. We won by double digits. They were hanging on the whole game.

I'm not even mad: 1) Beat Stare 2) Pats going to AFCCG. Again. 3) Liverpool ends City's PL unbeaten streak. I'm in such a good mood, I could care less that Chick Fill A is closed today. Panda Express has never tasted so good.

I’ve actually edited some of the SC Top 10s before (years ago) and can tell you from firsthand experience the amount of fucks anyone gives about those is close to zero. It’s usually just some PA or AP putting together 10 plays that happen to be easy to grab on a server.
