I get what you're a saying but you can always use this excuse to dismiss it, even if it really is. The fact is that this really is a ridiculously deep RB class. Good prospects off the top of my head- Saquon Barkley, Bryce Love, Ronald Jones III, Chubb/Michel, Justin Jackson, Akrum Wadley, Rashaad Penny, Kerryon Johnson, Josh Adams, Royce Freeman, Damien Harris could all go in the first 3 rounds and I wouldn't argue.

I'm thinking it's still academics?  I've never heard any character issue rumors about him.  He sounds like a good kid.   While they aren't usually specific about injuries, they seem to generally acknowledge them.

He wouldn't be a high draft pick at this point, but he has a good combination of size, power, speed, and burst, so his skill set translates well (this is the same reason Weber was a legit threat to leave despite his reduced production this year). He has the tools you can work with and hasn't been over-used in college. Would have likely been a day 3 pick, but likely would have been drafted. Would have likely made more noise if this year's draft wasn't so loaded at RB, but while there were more productive college backs, that's not the only thing scouts are looking at.

That said, he should benefit from coming back, as will Michigan obviously.

Higdon proved his value as a primary rushing threat this season, and his blocking came a long way.  He's a great example of how much RBs can and do improve in college despite the false narrative of RBs being college-ready.

I think he'll be an even better pro than he has been a college player, and he should comfortably break the 1,000 yard rushing mark next season.
