Jalen Hurts
The sportsmanship displayed by Jalen Hurts in that game today was unbelievable. The way he was benched after being 25-2 as a starter, in the championship he dreamed of getting back to after last years' loss, and still supported his backup and team was amazing. We can all learn from it.
As an aside, Bama next year with this freshman is a scary thought. By far the best quarterback they have ever had.
EDIT: Best QB under Saban and in terms of talent. Most have been game managers

i’d be happy too if someone bailed me out of a year of hate*

Poor Pappanastos won't have the same luxury
January 9th, 2018 at 12:52 AM ^
too. Would have been a LOT worse for him had they lost.

He was a transfer from Ole Miss. Hope our transfer looks better than this kid.

The won so he gets a get out of jail free card. But had they lost, he would’ve needed to go into witness protection.

Joe Namath. Kenny Stabler.
January 9th, 2018 at 1:02 AM ^
in the Nick Saban era, and while it's very early to say, he easily could be. The only real competition is...AJ McCarron?
His point being, if they win 5/9 with meh QBs, scary to think how that changes the odds for the field if this kid is a bonafide star.
January 9th, 2018 at 7:39 AM ^
oh god
January 9th, 2018 at 11:18 AM ^
Exactly the point, thank you

Kids, parents, and coaches in youth sports can all learn from the way he handled himself with class.
January 9th, 2018 at 8:22 AM ^
I believe you mean parents, parents, parents, parents, some grandparents, some coaches and the occasional kid in youth sports*
January 9th, 2018 at 9:06 AM ^
Agree. Even the occasional kid that doesn't get it learns that behavior from...a parent.
January 9th, 2018 at 11:57 AM ^
Totally agree with your statement. Parents cause most of the issues with their lack of humility with their kids. As I raise my kids, I'm placing the situations I face with the parents in the back of my mind of what not to do when I get there.

Who has played one meaningful half of football the best QB Alabama has ever had seems premature.
January 9th, 2018 at 12:43 AM ^
This is incredibly stupid. Their freshman has played one half of football. He showed some talent, and he also made some huge mistkaes. Calling him the best QB Alabama has ever had is laughable.
January 9th, 2018 at 12:45 AM ^
after Namath, it's not a very long list
January 9th, 2018 at 12:52 AM ^
But AJ McCarron won back to back titles while throwing 77 TDs and only 15 picks to go with over 9000 yards. Tua may be a great player going forward but the OPs comment was just silly.

Andrew Zow!

Would love to talk to you.

still not a long list.

Anyone ever told you you’re kind of a dick?
January 9th, 2018 at 5:51 AM ^
Don't forget. This is the same group of people who declared nordin the greatest UM kicker ever after one game. The same group that wants to fire the whole coaching staff after every bad game.

Would Hurts have to sit out a year if he transferred here?

Year 5 is our year. Start reading the front page here.
January 9th, 2018 at 1:03 AM ^
Well of course because of our super-sophisticated ultra complex offensive scheme that ties our opponents in knots. With Harbaugh's genius, we have a decided schematic advantage.

Underrated comment
January 9th, 2018 at 1:20 AM ^
would he play RB or WR?
January 9th, 2018 at 1:34 AM ^
Yes he would here but he can transfer anywhere else and the NCAA will approve it.
January 9th, 2018 at 2:54 AM ^
I mean, a true Sophomore behind a true freshman, it makes sense he'd transfer, and I would take him for after Shea...
January 9th, 2018 at 12:47 AM ^
Tua was good. His performance was a mixed bag. But he was better than Hurts. That last pass was an amazing moment. Good look-off, bad coverage mistake, and a pinpoint pass. Stunning.
Hurts is a real transfer possibility, honestly. Tua is almost certain to start next year. Hurts would be appealing to guys like Dan Mullen and Chip Kelly, even (especially?) with a year off to develop.
January 9th, 2018 at 12:49 AM ^
Stunning? The receiver was open by 5 yards! Good lord some people love hype.
January 9th, 2018 at 12:56 AM ^
But did you see him break stride, even slow down a little bit? That throw was pretty damn spectacular. Considering he just made the freshmanest mistake ever on the previous play.
I’m actually glad Bama won that poor kicker would have had a rough go of it, to say the least
Laces out Dan
January 9th, 2018 at 1:07 AM ^
Not one quarterback on our roster could make that throw so it looks amazing when you see it accomplished
January 9th, 2018 at 12:51 AM ^
This is a scary thought but so is Nebraska with what Frost wants to do.
January 9th, 2018 at 12:58 AM ^
and all three of Florida, UCLA and Nebraska seem like plausible destinations for him.
We oddly don't have Nebraska on the schedule in 2019, which is weird given that we play them next year. So we just have a random one game against them and we're off again? Yet we play wisconson like 6 years in a row? Big ten scheduling. Wtf.
January 9th, 2018 at 7:51 AM ^
isn't paying attention to how things work in CFB.
January 9th, 2018 at 1:03 AM ^
Either Texas A&M or UT could be appealing if he decides to transfer.
January 9th, 2018 at 12:51 AM ^
Stop drinking and go to bed...............Seriously best ever? He had one good half after he threw a horrible pick. That's football......unfortunately Michigan's had some really bad luck when it comes to stuff like this
January 9th, 2018 at 12:53 AM ^
Tua wanted to got to Oregon because of Mariota but Scott Frost recruited a different QB ahead of him
January 9th, 2018 at 12:55 AM ^
and it certainly didn't start the day you were. There can be many names brought into an argument with the words you threw around. However, there is not way you are going to summarily dismiss the names Namath and Saban and tell me you have the right one and not expect me to question your choice.
