UPDATE: Found and safe. Texas A&M Reporter for Rivals Goes Missing, Possibly Abducted

Submitted by FauxMo on

Obviously OT, but related to college football... a female reporter for Rivals covering Texas A&M was on her way back from a football camp when she texted her roommate that someone was following her. Her car had been broken into some time prior as well, making her nervous. Her mother received this cryptic and horrifying text from her phone: "hello the owner of this phone Courtney. I am buying an iPad."

I hope she's found safe. This is weird and scary stalker stuff, it sounds like...

UPDATE (via Seth): She was found and is okay. https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/early-lead/wp/2018/01/08/rivals-com…

"Police said Roland was last seen wearing a Remington hat and camouflage."

Wish she had a Remington on her when this guy was trying to take her.  Scary stuff as an mgoDad of a girl.  Prayers for a safe return.

Good for you! That is very smart. Too many weirdos out there looking to prey on people.

Many people who commit violent crimes are fucked up on drugs. Trying spraying someone who is high on pcp and let me know how that works out for you. Won't be good. Pepper spray is a good alternative, but it is not going to help in all cases, likewise, a gun will not either, but probably a better chance.

How about marijuana? I am pro marijuana, but this has been found in people's systems after they were acting violent as well. The point is when your brain is not functioning right pepper spray has less of a chance to stop you. A gun will stop you regardless. People should not be preyed upon because they are physically weaker. I have seen people sprayed with pepper spray and many times it had little effect. Most times, they had drugs in their system.

You have obviously never smoked a nice indica strain.  Highly recommendable, Abe.  And if you're in the mood to spice things up a bit, a nice sativa will do the trick.

It affects everyone differently, but I can tell you - if the world smoked more pot, there would be less crime.  "Acting violent" is certainly NOT a side effect of marijuana.

That is funny shit right there! If she would have had a gun and killed the piece of shit right there, maybe Dr. Mudd wouldn't have had to fix his leg and therefore end up in jail for 3+ years.

So stupid. There are gun laws in place, just like there are traffic laws in place. The 2A community isn't saying get rid of all gun laws. They're saying increasing the gun laws aren't going to help prevent bad guys from getting them, in the same way that increasing the traffic laws isn't going to help bad drivers obey traffic laws.

... you guys are on the same side.  And I'm there with you both.  More gun laws isn't going to change that the current ones don't work.  It's like trying to re-build a house that collapsed without clearing the rubble first

A busted clock is right twice a day. Honest Abe/WD doesn't know what the fuck he's talking about. PCP may be nasty shit, but the scare associated with it has always been overblown. No dealer goes out and purchases large quantities of PCP in order to spike the marijuana they sell. Just...no. For anyone else, PCP is not exactly freely available. Everyone here either does or knows someone who drinks, smokes herb, snorts coke, has eaten mushrooms or acid. Has anyone ever told you they've done PCP now or in the past? Have you ever been at a spot where you have seen or been offered PCP? I think you mentioned that you have law enforcement experience, so the answer may be different for you XM, but for Abe Devotee, me, Koala dude, whomever, the answer there is no doubt a firm 'no'.

I am a college professor. I'm also from the Bronx. The South Bronx. I grew up there in the late 70s and early 80s, and lived there again in the early 90s. I've been in plenty of dangerous situations. You post under a variety of accounts on MGoBlog to upvote yourself. Oooooo, your life is so dangerous! Who's living in a bubble, kid?

"Idiot college professor"! On a blog devoted (hah) to University of Michigan sports where many of the readers and posters went to Michigan and deeply admire not only the athletic teams but the faculty who are an important part of the institution? Good lord. I'm a college professor and I may well be an idiot, but don't tar Clarence with that brush.
