OT: Gruden to Raiders - 10 years for 100 million.

This is crazy and i do not think he is going to be even as close to successfull as Davis thinks or hopes. Should draw fans to Vegas big time though, once they move there. Do you guys think this was good. I say bad, but when you got money to throw around and you suck, i can see why.

I’m a Tampa guy.

He won that Super Bowl with Dungy’s team. He wasn’t a bad coach, but he had 2-3 good years surrounded by 4-5 meh to awful ones.

I never understood the hoopla around him after he got fired.

I have never followed an NFL team more closely. He made that team what it was. Got the most out of his players and won a SB with a middle pack QB in Brad Johnson. Defense was excelent, and he utilized his offensive players extermely well (Jo Jo Vicius!!!). He will get a SB if not 2 in Oakland. Mark my words homeboy.

He’s not a bad coach, but that was Tony Dungy’s team. Brad Johnson was just a guy Gruden asked not to screw the game up or lose the game entirely. The defense, arguably a top-5 defense of all time, was what won Tampa that Super Bowl. A defense that Tony Dungy and Monte Kiffin built personally. Sapp, Brooks, Lynch, Rice, and Barber. The core of what won that Super Bowl. The offense (supposedly Gruden’s strong suit) was just along for the ride.

I give Gruden credit for getting Tampa over the hump, but aside from his first season, he never got Tampa out of the first week of the playoffs. Two division titles that ended with wildcard round exits, and beyond that, a couple of seasons that ranged anywhere from 4-12 to 9-7.

Just saw a commercial for the playoffs in which Gruden says “There’s nothing you can do to simulate playoff football.”

Sounds like he’s trying to prepare Raider nation for what’s to come.

Good for him! I was a huge TB Bucs fan in high school when they won the 2003 SB. Raiders have so much talent, he will do great things there. Also, $100,000,000

And have been since the "The Snake" years ....

He turned Rich Gannon into an MVP QB.

Consecutive playoff runs when with the Raiders.

The Snow Job with NE would of taken them to the SB that year and I doubt they would of lost.  Yes ... I still think Brady fumbled ..... Yes ... I do!   =)

Super Bowl against TB - That loss was totally on Bill Callahan.   He didn't change the offense hardly at all that Gruden put into place thus allowing Gruden to know EXACTLY what the Raiders would be doing and which is why they got torched so badly.

He is a good coach and has a really good QB in Carr.  It should be a pretty good team for at least the next 5 years with playoff runs mixed in.  I'm happy about this hire.  I did like Rio as well though.  It was just a bad year is all, it happens.

This is a good thing for the NFL. Head coaching salaries weren't growing as fast as player salaries. This is a new mark that changes that playing field. Second, we no longer have those silly quarterback clinics where he pretends to be the ultimate buddy/coach while the prospective draftee quarterbacks try their hardest not to roll their eyes (great training for dealing with the media down the road, though). Don't know what to say about the Harbaugh thing other than he's where he wants to be, and next year is his opportunity to put it all together. I believe ESPN's rumor mill about as much I believe Kyrie Irving's science lessons.
