MBB Win in Iowa City POSBANG

Submitted by FrankMurphy on

Remember our basketball team? The one that, in the past five years, has quietly produced two Big Ten championships, a National Championship Game appearance, a Final Four appearance, an Elite Eight appearance, a Sweet Sixteen appearance, and a national player of the year? They just won their sixth straight. GO BLUE.

Any conference road win is a good win.  Simpson is really coming into his own lately, and grabbing a hold on the job.   Good win boys, Go Blue!

We can have nice things! Glad we didn't repeat the meltdown we had in Iowa City last year (basketball not football haha /sobs).

Crean was nice to listen to, he did a really good job. Obvisouly knows a lot about hoops, it was way better than Jim Calhoun last year.

Doesn't a Final Four implies all of the other rounds? 1 FF (2013), 1 E8 (2014), 1 S16 (2016). Nevermind, it looks progressively worse that way.  Carry on.

become a basketball school. His current win percentage is .623 with 2 conference championships and 7 post season appearances (with another one likely this year). During that same period, the football team’s win percentage is .593 with 8 post season appearances and no championships. Did I mention that he also made a final four? His incoming recruiting class is better, too.

did a great job at manging the offense and made some shots. He effectively put Eli Brooks on the bench for the 2nd half.

Isaiah Livers filled in really well and shot the ball well. If that's the Livers they get for the rest of the season, I rather see him play more than Duncan who is a liability on defense despite the effort. Let Duncan come in as a gunner off the bench which fits his role a lot better.

Charles Matthews and Moe Wagner struggled all game long. Nice to see them win without needing them.

How about MAAR? He took over part of 2nd half when they need a run and came away with a personal 7-0 run that pretty much made it a comfortable lead in the 2nd half. He was huge.

Livers and Z were awesome today. Bright days ahead for this club. Really this Wagner may come back, too. There’s a good possibility he would go very late in rd 2. Some say even undrafted, which I don’t agree with.

Very pleased to see how they played in a road game early in the new year. Seems like M always plays Iowa Jan 1st or 2nd on the road. Glad to see them finally win at that place. Rahk looked like a man on a mission on offense and defense!

Absolutely fantastic performance by Isaiah Livers! Hit so many clutch shots as Iowa was making runs. Hopefully Jordan Poole follows suit as B1G play continues! Also great to see Simpson and MAAR play well together. Very impressive to do it with Wagner having arguably his worst game in 2 years. Go Blue!
