Check in if you’re already over it

F*** 2017. F*** that bowl game. It’s over. It’s done. Next year will be much better! The players will be faster, stronger, and smarter. The coaches will call better games. 2018 will be a team we can all be proud of! 8-5 will be this regime’s floor. Not 3-9. Not 4-8. 8-5 is as low as we go, and we just got through it! Sign in if you’re optimistic, because the alternative is for losers! GO BLUE REGARDLESS!

I'm with you, here, this last season was the floor.  We knew it wasn't going to be championship calibre, but the team experienced a worst case scenario.  It will be better, because it will be.

I am over it. But here's the problem: I am 0% confident next year will be any better. I think Michigan football might be cursed. Does anyone know - did the Michigan football bus run over and kill a gypsy grandma at any point? And then go from really fat to super skinny?

I knew I probably shouldn't have bargained away all those future victories and the happiness of, as yet unborn, Michigan fans for that National Championship in '97. But, Mephisto is a persuasive salesman, and I was weak.

Look at our schedule next year. It is not set up for an easy climb. Then look a how much our team improved with a month of practices that prepared our team for the bowl game. Look at that result. I don't see how a round of Spring and Fall practices is going to take an 8-5 team to a 10 win team. Not with that schedule. ND, OSU & MSU all away games.

If away games mattered that much, away teams wouldn't be 3-0 in the MSU/Mich rivalry since Harbaugh took over, and we would be 2-1 against Ohio St! Talent and coaching win out.

We definitely have the talent. WOTS is that Harbaugh is working on the coaching. If you think Jim Harbaugh is okay with losing to MSU, losing to OSU, losing to ND, going 8-5, you are nuts! Jim Harbaugh bleeds football, bleeds Michigan, and bleeds winning. Those ideals are pushing through into the players. They are engraining themselves into our program again. The results just haven't shown their face yet.

"The results just haven't shown their face yet." Dude, that's the problem, results are all that matters. Period. Don't give me "ideals / bleeds football". You think we have the talent? Did you watch the Bowl Game? Jim Harbaugh did not beat Urban at The Shoe with a team laden with NFL talent. What makes you think he can do It in 2018?

Our defense is one of the most talented in the country, coached by the best in the country. Harbaugh recruits make up almost 100% of it. We have talent at WR and RB. We have the best group of TEs in the country. Two talented third year QBs, a talented 2nd year QB. The interior line is made up of three guys who were talented enough to play as true freshman.

Yes I watched the bowl game. Poor coaching, bad OL/QB play, sloppy turnovers, same as this entire year. The bowl game is exactly what our 2017 team was. It has zero bearing on the 2018 team. If you think Harbaugh is fine with 8-5, why would you be okay with us hiring him in the first place? What part of taking over a 5-7 team and putting together the best three year stretch in Michigan football since Lloyd Carr actually gave a damn did you miss so far? The results are that 8-5 is the worst we can get. And that is a vast improvement over the past decade.

Losing that game in the Shoe in '16 was a fluke. Speight melting down out of nowhere, the defense forgetting how to tackle Samuels for a loss, turning it into a 4 & 1 which was stopped cold except for the ref's spot.

The Defense has never been a problem.  You say we have "talented" QB's.  Really?  Can you tell me who they are so we can start playing them.  Peters was not good in the bowl game.  Some of that is the OL, but dude did not look like a Top 3 Big Ten QB.

Do I think JH is fine with an 8-5 season?  Of course not.  Dude, do you think that ANY coach wants to be 8-5?  Dont you think all coaches want to win a NC every year!?  Just because you "want" something doesn't mean you get it.  Also, keep making excuses why we lost to OSU.  Sick tired of excuses.  Man's Game Son!  Time to own your results.  Be accountable.

I've thought about it. Meaningless bowl game etc. The only thing is that we don't seem to be getting better very fast. Tons of mistakes by the coaching staff in personnel/timeouts etc. We either need an influx of talent or the players we have need to be getting better much faster. I don't want to be Iowa of the big ten east.

Pretty much worst case scenario season (guess it could've been worse if we lost to Indiana). But if I didn't leave after 3-9 and two 5-7 seasons, you're crazy if you think I'm leaving now.

I think what we makes me most 'sad' about yesterday is how in denial I am about how close we are to being competitive nationally. Georgia would slaughter us right now.

As a relatively young fan, I have accepted the following:
1) we are cursed
2) OSU's qb will rush for a 100 yards against us

Accept these two facts and you won't be disappointed. I wasn't even mad yesterday.

to anyone who is already over it. I am simply numbed by this year. So disappointing. It could have ended on a high note, but that had to be the worst second half (compared to first half) Michigan has played in a while. I just need to get away from it for a few weeks, check mgoblog only once a day instead of five times.
