2018: I'll leave the board (not that anyone cares) if Michigan doesn't go at least 10-2 RS
I've had my time to vent. Now I want to bring some perspective back to the board.
Regardless of what happened today (which was an abysmal loss), Michigan will be a more talented team next year than they were this year.
On offense they return:
Bredeson, Onwenu, Ruiz, JBB, Gentry, McKeon, DPJ, Evans, Higdon, Black and numerous other contributors. They have three legitimate options at QB. Peters was not good today, but the offense was missing a number of players and he is only a RS Freshman. Patterson was a 5-star QB. McCaffery was also highly rated.
On defense:
Gary, Bush, Hudson, Long, Hill, Metellus, Kinnel, Hudson, Furbush, Watson and possibly WInovich. While I think the defense was overhyped, they were certainly a very good and very young unit. They should improve despite losing Hurst and even if they lose Winovich.
I will gladly take returning nearly the entire team + Jim Harbaugh's entire body of work and predict that this team wins at least ten regular season games. I have said I was not surprised when Michigan won 10 games in 2015 while many of you were shocked. I will make the same prediction today and to be frank, it doesn't even feel bold.
The real question will be whether or not Michigan can take that 10 win baseline and turn it into a special season. If one of the QBs actually wins the job (and not just by default like the last couple of years) and if the offensive line can produce above average tackles among their half dozen bullets, I think its well within the realm of possibility.
What say you?

Have fun with your last year of posting.

Scooter. Why don’t you just save us the suspense, leave the board now, and if some unlikely freak turnaround occurs you come back in a year. I think that would be best.
January 1st, 2018 at 8:24 PM ^
When I read this, my first question for the OP is: “who’s your name?” Welp, we can’t miss you til you’re gone!
January 1st, 2018 at 9:15 PM ^
Why wait?
January 1st, 2018 at 6:47 PM ^
Seems right
January 1st, 2018 at 7:16 PM ^
I had been saying 9-3 next year but after the bowl, I think repeating at 8-4 seems more likely.
January 1st, 2018 at 6:47 PM ^
I say that no one cares what you think or what you’re putting on the line here
January 1st, 2018 at 7:04 PM ^
What do you think? Think they'll go 10-2 (or better)?
If the O/U is say, 9/9.5, why don't be bet it next year? Post our slips and see who comes out ahead?
January 1st, 2018 at 7:13 PM ^
depends on whether Patterson is eligible. As of right now, our offense has structural and personnel issues that are prohibitive of a real contending season. It is what it is, we are a competitive football team again, but really not a whole lot more than that.

See you at the crossroads

He wont be lonely.
January 1st, 2018 at 6:48 PM ^
if Higdon doesn't fumble, game over
DPJ fumble - blame the coaching for that one?
the one TE fumble blame the coaches
the picks? bad decisions by a RS Freshman
a re-shuffled OL struggles to run block
and we lost by 7
everyone needs to chill out
January 1st, 2018 at 6:49 PM ^
Too many.
January 1st, 2018 at 7:41 PM ^
Yeah, calling for three fumbles is just terrible play selection.
I wish the coaches would have called for 0 fumbles instead.

If my aunt had balls, she'd be my uncle. Time to stop making these mistakes especially against a mediocre SEC team. It's a trend: Remember the kick return for a touchdown in the Orange Bowl, the Iowa fieldgoal, the MSU punt, the OSU spot. There have been massive clock management issues in lots of these games too.
January 1st, 2018 at 8:47 PM ^
Or your Aunt might identify as a man despite not having balls. Therefore, he (formerly she) has actually been your uncle the whole time. This gives me hope. Perhaps Michigan can actually be a champion, as is, despite the obvious absence of anything close to resembling balls.

But damn it feels like we say this all the time. All. The. Time.
January 1st, 2018 at 7:08 PM ^
Just this once I'm with you brutus. I still hate your avatar though and that damn mullet cut or whatever it is. Man you suck!!! Happy New Year though man and to everyone else!!! Here's to 2018....suck it bitches(Michigan haters) The year of the Wolverine!
January 1st, 2018 at 9:50 PM ^
I still think he's right.
We are closer to being good, than being bad. I honestly think there is so much talent, but the discipline and fire isn't there, and that falls on JMFH. I love him. I don't think there is a better option at head coach, but I hope looking back he figures out how to get some discipline in these highly talented athletes. Just when something good happened, a late hit or a fumble. The late hit after SC got a first down gave them 15 yards, then a TD...then turnovers near the goal line. Any one of those things are different, and there is a good chance we had a different outcome.
We DO say that all the damn time--and I'm sick of it too, but considering years past, I think we are closer to (sans qb, ugh) being special good, than stinky bad. And Peters just seems (in my untrained, and very humble opinion) to not have mental capacity. I am so rooting for him..but shit... he looked defeated early in 2nd half. So, get a QB, and we have a lot better of an offense. Maybe its him next year, but SP or DM are right there.
I feel you... this loss sucks
January 1st, 2018 at 11:45 PM ^
This. So much this.
January 1st, 2018 at 6:55 PM ^
This game should've been over before Higdon fumbled. BTW, if you look at the replay, it sure looks like he got the ball back.
If we go into South Bend with this same offensive philosophy, it won't matter who our QB is. We will be 0-1.
January 1st, 2018 at 7:23 PM ^
Don't fucking start talking about "looks like he got the ball back" shit. The last thing this fanbase needs is to come up with more excuses and feed the conspiracy theories.
January 2nd, 2018 at 9:54 AM ^
Your concern is a legitamite one, but the dude is right. The replay from the back of the endzone showed that Higdon pulled the ball back in towards his body before the SC player jumped on.
January 1st, 2018 at 6:55 PM ^
Calling a fullback dive to a TE who hasn’t taken a handoff in his life is absolutely on the coaches. How can you defend the coaches? Unreal.
January 1st, 2018 at 6:58 PM ^
3 of which started in SC territory thanks to their terrible offense. What did M do with those?
Kicked field goals and that FG kicker was so delighted with himself he grabbed his junk at midfield and showed SC sideline he was the man.
Michigan Difference

I'm so glad that I missed that live.
January 1st, 2018 at 7:48 PM ^
Whatever, Baker Mayfield does it and it's awesome. Michigan player does it while he's having the game of his life (which we end up losing) and.. THIS IS MICHIGAN, our players should be classy, unemotional robots!
January 1st, 2018 at 9:45 PM ^
The 1st game? It's Bush league no matter who does it. The kid needs to grow up.
January 1st, 2018 at 9:53 PM ^
Someone grabbed his junk? EEK.. If his mom was watching, I bet she's pissed. I would be.

Georgia has a true freshman QB. They are in the playoffs playing for a Natty. Not sure the redshirt freshman argument works.
January 1st, 2018 at 7:05 PM ^
And Georgia doesn't have the vaunted QB whisperer.
January 1st, 2018 at 7:11 PM ^
And they have a senior laden experienced offensive line.
January 1st, 2018 at 7:21 PM ^
I'll agree that our QB play has been way below expectations but you're cherry picking here.
January 1st, 2018 at 7:34 PM ^
Haskins at OSU looked better than anything we've got too. Lewerke has been at MSU as long as Peters here. It's concerning that after 3 years we still haven't developed a servicable quarterback. Doesn't support believing something will develop this offseason either.
January 1st, 2018 at 8:40 PM ^
Can't disagree with you. I keep wanting to believe the idea that this is really only year 2 in terms of recruiting, but he signed 2 QB's in that first class, one of whom was close to the top 100. Meanwhile MSU doesn't ask their players to do anything beyond their capabilities and somehow looks efficient and like they have an identity.
January 2nd, 2018 at 3:59 AM ^
MSU really blows up the idea that the issues have anything to do with inexperience or youth. As much shit as we talk about Mark Dantonio, the dude just wins. They just completed a 10-win season including signature wins over us and PSU with a team that's about as young and inexperienced as ours.
January 1st, 2018 at 7:36 PM ^
are scrapping over a Natural Light or National Bohemian, they're not playing for a Natty, they're playing for a national title.
(Sorry to be so douchetashic, but seeing "Natty" outside of a happy hour menu drives me mad. )
January 1st, 2018 at 9:55 PM ^
Gangsta talk..I use shit like that all the time to embarrass my teenagers

January 1st, 2018 at 7:04 PM ^
If this team didn’t choke away a game in the 2nd half, like they seemingly did all season, it wouldn’t be this team.
January 1st, 2018 at 7:06 PM ^
5 turnovers today
Crucial turnovers against Ohio State on last drive
Peters fumbles near goal vs Wisconsin
Turnovers all over the field against MSU
Last year:
Game ending INT vs Florida State
3 deadly turnovers vs Ohio State
Bad INT vs Iowa last year
These coaches are doing a terrible job teaching ball security. So is DPJs muffed punt the coach's fault? Their track record leads me to believe "yes". Coach better.
January 1st, 2018 at 7:30 PM ^
this year against the 5 teams on our schedule with a pulse. That sums it all up to me.
January 1st, 2018 at 7:17 PM ^
DEFEATED
WITH
DIGNITY
January 1st, 2018 at 7:27 PM ^
Dignity indeed.
January 1st, 2018 at 7:19 PM ^
Ah yes, the ole Michigan Ifs. Quite a team those Ifs. They show up every year. Real nostalgic too.
January 1st, 2018 at 7:21 PM ^
that our offense could turn into only FGs. The FGs came on possessions starting from
- the SC 46 (fumbled punt)
- the SC 31 (fumbled handoff))
- the M 40 (kick catch interference 15 yds))
- the SC 32 (Furbush INT, Higdon fumble, SC Punt))
There wasn't much to feel good about offensively through 2 1/2 quarters. Then the defense cracked and we returned all of the favors.
January 1st, 2018 at 6:50 PM ^
It all depends on QB play. Better QB play, even modestly, is a win vs state, ohio and carolina. My confidence in that position since Rudock has decreased, rapidly this past year.
January 1st, 2018 at 6:53 PM ^
the QB whisperer meme has definitely been put to rest.
