True Blue Grit

failed when it counted most.  That running play call to McKeon where he fumbled may have been the worst playcall by Harbaugh (or whoever called it) I've seen under this staff.  2 yards to go deep in our territory with the game in jeopardy and that's what they run?  Holy Jesus.

In the end, Peters AND the entire team collapsed in the late stages of the game and I'm speechless as to what to say or think about this team.  Time to drink heavily and watch some teams that seem to know what they're doing.

Where it's fine to say, fire them all. I think he should his son back to ST coach. They should let Pep and Drevno go. It's time to modernize the Michigan offense to take advantage of the wide splits on a college football field and mobile quarterbacks who can run RPO's. I've said that they should grab someone from Clemson, but I can also see grabbing a guy who runs something similar to what Oklahoma State does. Much like Gundy, Harbaugh needs to go out and find the best possible offensive coordinator he can possibly find and hand him the keys.

I'd be fine with Harbaugh giving up a lot of the structural elements of the offense to a different coordinator. He would still be involved coaching quarterbacks and helping to tweak the run game. I don't know that he'd be absent. However, I think it would be in Michigan's best interest for him to get rid of Pep and Drevno and give up some of his input. Again, as I think about it more, I think Michigan could plausbily run an offense similar to Oklahoma State since they mix the run and pass well. I'd be very disappointed to see Michigan come back next year with a similar staff and plan.

Look at every playoff team offense. 3 spreads, and a prostyle with 2 first round rbs and a top five defense. Even Saban has a Mobile qb running rpo's even after bringing in an NFL guy as OC. Patterson is the perfect guy to make the transition.

Harbaugh would be an amazing CEO coach. He's got great motivational/recruiting skills and his hires have almost all been A+. His problem is he's too loyal to guys o his side of the ball.

Can anyone name a consistent bright spot on this year's offense. People, the answer was "there were no consistent bright spots on this year's offense beginning at the top down through to the PAT kicker." Write that down, it looks to appear on next year's test too.

It stinks like rotting dog crap. Hasn’t been good in a decade or more. I don’t understand how we can be incapable of downfield passes for years and years.

I know it's Harbaugh's thing and everyone still has ptsd from richrod, but can we please drop this supposedly impossibly complex prostyle system and adopt what seemingly every good P5 offensive team already has? Put Patterson in an RPO spread and let him run around like Baker Mayfield. We can still use fullbacks and tight ends in pistol. Hell, Alabama is a spread team now.

Otherwise, hire Matt Canada.

Almost everyone hates the offensive coordinator. It's the job we all think we could do better. I can think of only one time in recent memory where he team lost its offensive coordinator and the fans were legitimately upset about it.

That was Matt Canada at Pitt.

points, momentum, defense gets gassed. So much to work on in the offseason but for sure we need to develop better OL play, it is the offensive Achilles heal.

Why is Khalid Hill not on the field? Seems like he has been used less and less and he should have been the one taking that TE hand-off

Fucking Drevno.  What were there, three plays in the playbook?  Run up the middle (stuffed every time), one-read passes to a tight end, one-read out routes.  That's basically all we ran.

And handing off to a TE?  Got any more brilliant ideas, like maybe making Mo Hurst cover a receiver, or having Peters line up at OT?  I don't blame McKeon for dropping the ball, because taking handoffs is not a thing he does.  It's like wondering how come Devin Bush can't run a route.

I've had it with Drevno and never did see what Pep has done for this offense except make it less creative.

I'll never get over having the ball on the 6 yard line first and goal, down by 4 with only about 9 minutes left, and the drive ending on third down when Peters panicked and just heaved the ball into the end zone like it was the last play of the game. Nor will I get over Peters just crumpling to the ground when he was a yard away from the first down when time was of the essence and Michigan proceeding to just chucking the ball down the field on the next two plays. Why not run just to get the first down, stop the clock, and move on from there?

Peters is clearly not the future. Has awful instincts and isn't that good of a thrower, either. The playcalling is atrocious. Get a new OC, actually have a WR coach, and hope Patterson lives up to the hype.

Michigan is now a punchline. Harbaugh is going to ride Drevno and this offense all the way back to mediocrity. Hate to say it but, looks like Toomer is right on the money!

The play calling on offense has been crap all year. The majority of pass attempts are to a stationary receiver facing the QB 5-8 yards deep wearing a defensive player on their back like a cape. We just witnessed Daffy Duck calling down plays to Goofy playing QB. We have Harbaugh doing his part, we have Don Brown bringing it every year on D (how many more years do we have him?), and we are squandering it with shoddy offensive play calling. Don't buy into the cupboard is bare on O, lesser teams are doing it with 2&3 * players. Shae Patterson is not going to be better in this system.

some confidence and not act like so many plays (4th & 10, 4 & 1 long pass to sidelines) are hail mary situations.  Throw more over the middle until our QB gains some confidence.

Can someone with knowledge of Drevno’s history tell me if he’s always been this predictable and unimaginative? Was he ever innovative? (Genuine question- wondering if he has ever been different or better.)
