B1G! B1G! B1G!
Looking like 7-0 heading into the Michigan game tomorrow.
Bama and Georgia better win or the Playoff committee is going to have egg all over their face. Good news is it might finally force a 6 or 8 team playoff.
Will be interestering to see how ESPN tries to spin it.

With loses to two 12 win teams, one 11 win team, and one (sigh) 10 win team- I agree.
3 of our 4 loses came to teams that will finish in the Top 10.
Sooo many moral victories to choose from.

Badgers won 13 games.

Wisconsin, Michigan State, Penn State, Ohio State all will have proven, reliable QBs going into next year. We're still rolling the dice at that position going into Harbaugh's 4th year and crossing our fingers that "competition" will somehow make everyone better than they really are.

playing on the road in a huge game.
Which of our current QBs has won that big a game, on the road or at home?

The question stands-Which of our returning QBs has done better in a big game?
Do you think our QB situation going into next year is better than Wisconsin's, Penn State's or Michigan State's? Be honest.

to being the locked-in starter against a guy who did nothing this year and a bunch of other guys who have never taken a snap. Why is that?

A guy who did nothing? Jesus man. Stay down, you're beat.
December 31st, 2017 at 1:24 PM ^
we think Peters is a good quarterback. You are using the same idiotic argument for Haskins that MSU fans were using for OConner after he beat OSU on the road a few years ago, how did that turn out?

Thry can neg your negativity all they want AA, unfortunately you speak truth...

Michigan state and ohio state both will have proven talent from teams that beat us this year back, as will Wisconsin and PSU, notably PSU, Wisconsin, and MSU all have a more stable QB stiuation. Expecting only Michigans young players to improve seems a little naive. Next years Big ten should be very comptetitve.

And we went significant stretches without a functional QB.

Brohm beat Rich Rod giving Purdue a record of 7-6, a winning record.

You read an old aritcle because Purdue ended the season with a winning record.

No, but it means we beat a team with a winning record.

Absolutely! it wasn't that long ago when we couldn't beat Toledo at home.

is not exactly something to be celebrating.
December 31st, 2017 at 9:20 PM ^
You have to start somewhere. And beating all the teams with losing records and not losing to them is a solid foundation.
December 31st, 2017 at 2:41 PM ^
Well for the purposes of the current discussion, the only thing it really does is MAKE YOU WRONG!!!!!!!!!
December 30th, 2017 at 11:44 PM ^
And it's still a crime against humanity that we lost the MSU game.
Considering the QB situation difference from this year to next, we're in a good spot.
Can't wait for Monday.

We don't know that the QB situation will be better. We came into this past year thinking Speight would be healthy and back to where he was in the middle of last season.

FACT

3 of the 4 teams we lost to this year bring back a more stable qb situation than we do next year, msu was younger than us, osu's qb looks pretty damn good in limited work, only expecting Michigan to improve is asinine, its going to be tough next year and the coaches will either earn their money or not.
December 31st, 2017 at 8:51 AM ^
UM beat 4 teams with winning records. If, after we beat them, they imploded and blew a promising season that is their fault, not UM's.
December 31st, 2017 at 9:29 AM ^
Yeah... It's not that they just weren't good teams. It's that they collapsed after we beat them. /s
December 30th, 2017 at 11:54 PM ^
I do actually care how the B1G does in the bowls, and this is the major reason why. It's good for Michigan.
Transitive property stuff is of limited utility, but it is interesting that these teams we couldn't quite beat are teams that major conference powers can't beat either. And teams like Washington, Miami, and USC have significantly better QBs than we did when we were either playing on the road or playing better.
Other people are noticing, too. For example:
Wisconsin and Penn State both have Heisman frontrunners back, Michigan and Michigan State were two of the youngest teams in the country, and OSU is OSU. Add Frost and Brohm, Fleck in year 2 + inevitable 9-win season from either Iowa/N'western.

I'm blanking on who PSU's returning "Heisman frontrunner" is going to be. Has Saquon Barkley announced he will return? Hinton can't be referring to McSorely, can he?

Half of his passes in 2016 were "arm punts", and he was just "lucky" that his receivers made plays on so many of them. He was totally "overrated". Right? He seems to be working out just fine, and Penn State will have a third year starter and no questions or concerns about the QB position in 2018.
He may not be THAT serious a Heisman candidate, but he is far better than anyone we have.

McSorley put up more passing yards this season than any M quarterback has in any season ever. McSorley had a higher completion % than any M quarterback (100+ attempts) has in any season ever. McSorley threw more TDs than any M quarterback has in any season ever. His career passer rating to date is higher than any M quarterback ever. No, he's not the greatest quarterback ever, yes he arm punts it, and he is surrounded by a ton of skill position talent. But in the end, he's a pretty effective passer and people should stop acting like he is just a replacement level QB. The guy is on pace to be a 10,000 yard career passer with 1000+ rushing yards, 85-90 TDs, had a 67% completion rate this year etc. He's actually a really good QB. Be ecstatic if Peters or Patterson does anything close to the production that McSorley had this year at any point in the next 3 years.
