Founder's centennial IPA
Founder's Porter
Bell's 2 Hearted
Honestly though, as much as I love Michigan craft beer, I would take a Hofbrau over any of those any day.

Two-Hearted is dope.

6 of those bad boys in an hour, and you've had the equivalent of 10.5 Budweiser's in 45 minutes.

brutus, did i ever tell you about my criminal defense practice....
i know you are kidding and all, but be careful if you're having a toot before the drive home. you know that but i had to say it anyway.

1. Bell's Two Hearted
2. Founder's Brekfast Stout
3. New Holland's Dragon's Milk
Don't mess around with 1 or 3 lightly.

Can't beat Dragon's Milk
December 26th, 2017 at 7:17 PM ^
1) Bell's Two-Hearted Ale
2) Founder's Breakfast Stout
3) Short's Publican Porter
- list is not all-inclusive by any means; plenty of great Michigan beers
- your mileage may vary
- void where prohibited

1. Milwaukee's Best
2. Pabst Blue Ribbon
3. Natural Light
December 26th, 2017 at 7:30 PM ^
That list just doesn't seem complete without Michelob Ultra.
December 26th, 2017 at 9:10 PM ^
Do they still make Stroh's?
December 26th, 2017 at 11:12 PM ^
Yes, I have seen it in stores. It was bought out by the company that owns Pabst.
I also enjoy Frankenmuth Oktoberfest. Their pilsner ain't bad either...
December 27th, 2017 at 6:08 AM ^
My brother drinks Stroh's. I had a swig the other day. It tastes like "high school".
December 26th, 2017 at 8:01 PM ^
PBR has nothing in common with those other beers, other than often been served in a can. The most misunderstood, underrated beer in the midwest.

December 26th, 2017 at 7:23 PM ^
1. Right Brain Mangalista Pig Porter
2. Short's Soft Parade
3. Atwater Vanilla Java Porter
Also, I know it's a Cleveland brewery, but I have to give a shout out to Great Lakes' Christmas Ale and Edmund Fitzgerald Porter.
December 26th, 2017 at 7:29 PM ^
Your mancard and any fingerhold you may have had on good taste by recommending Soft Parade.
December 26th, 2017 at 7:31 PM ^
Seconded
December 26th, 2017 at 7:42 PM ^
Wait, people still say "mancard?" Is this 2002?
December 26th, 2017 at 7:54 PM ^
Chuck Norris doesn't need a mancard
December 26th, 2017 at 10:39 PM ^
But there's a place on my palate for Soft Parade. Not turning in my mancard, just in touch with my f f f other side you know...
December 27th, 2017 at 9:05 AM ^
7.5% ABV while being really easy to drink is good by my book. A great beer to be enjoyed by all.
December 27th, 2017 at 3:33 PM ^
is also 7.5% abv. And a sweet bomb of berry juice. Hmm.....
December 28th, 2017 at 10:07 AM ^
I wouldn't say it's easy to drink though. 1 glass and you get a stomach ache. Not what I really go for.
December 26th, 2017 at 8:18 PM ^
Wtf chuck?
Bells two hearted is a great beer, but is popular down here in Georgia (on tap too) , so I don't know if it should be in a list if you're looking for stuff while you're in Michigan if you can get it at home.
December 26th, 2017 at 9:20 PM ^
Not a two hearted fan. I see it here in GA and I think “I could show you much better MI beers, people”.
All Day IPA is my favorite from the mitten. Shorts pretty much has a great beer for every category of brew as well.
December 26th, 2017 at 11:43 PM ^
All day is your favorite (an ok session IPA, but that's an inherently "meh" style), and you don't like two-hearted?
I love drinking all day during football games so I can nervously gulp for the duration without getting too obliterated, but it is not better than two hearted. It is good in the way that coors light is good for playing beer pong.
December 27th, 2017 at 12:23 PM ^
Nope. I enjoy the taste of All Day and do not particularly enjoy the tast of Two Hearted. Pretty simple formula I keep.
December 27th, 2017 at 3:35 PM ^
because you made the comment about how you could show people in GA so many beers better than Two Hearted. I agree that there are plenty better than Two Hearted, but I'm just imagining you busting out the All Day as an example that most would take a sip and be like, dude, seriously, this is what you think is better than Two Hearted?
Totally respect your personal preferences but just don't think many would agree (and again, popular opinion shouldn't matter to anyone individually, but it is an indicator of what others might like if you're trying to intro other people to "better" MI beer, which was the context of your post).
December 26th, 2017 at 8:40 PM ^
I enjoy most of their stuff especially some of the imperial IPAs but their Christmas ale has gotten worse over the years I feel. Still a decent Christmas ale but not a great one.
December 26th, 2017 at 8:45 PM ^
Believe their brewer left and they have been chasing the recipe ever since.
December 26th, 2017 at 8:49 PM ^
Oh yeah I always forget this fact/rumor. The brewer left for thirsty dog and they say 12 dogs of Christmas is the actual original great lakes Christmas ale. Thanks for the reminder.
December 27th, 2017 at 1:54 PM ^
The Great Lakes Edmund Fitzgerald Porter.....but left it off since Great Lakes brewing is actually in the state down south.....
December 26th, 2017 at 9:18 PM ^
That Atwater Vanilla Java Porter is amazing. Definitely one of my favorite beers
December 26th, 2017 at 10:52 PM ^
Agreed on the Vanilla Java Porter.

Kuhnhenn Bourbon Barrel 4D
CBS
M-43(Boss Tweed sounds amazing but never had it)
HM: Backwoods Bastard, Black Note, & Kentuckley
December 26th, 2017 at 7:54 PM ^
Tried my first Boss Tweed last week, loved it. At 9.3% one 16oz can leaves me feeling alright alright.
December 26th, 2017 at 7:59 PM ^
Yes, much better than M-43. CBS is good, but way overhyped. Prefer KBS or Black Note.
December 26th, 2017 at 10:42 PM ^
Wow can't agree at all. KBS and Black Note are significantly more boozy and less complex than CBS. But alas, pallettes differ. TBT I love all those beers but CBS blew me away.
